Further famous faces including Antonia Banderas and Jean Reno also make an appearance.
Despite being released in the United States on Christmas Day later this year, the film premiered at the 81st Venice International Film Festival on 30 August and the critics are singing its praises.
Robbie Collin wrote in a five star review for the Daily Telegraph: "Kidman is ferociously good, convincing utterly as this formerly level-headed careerist whose deeply buried, long-denied appetites are simultaneously proving her making and downfall."

The film - called Babygirl - also received a seven-minute standing ovation from the audience.
Director Reijn called the movie an 'X-ray of kink' that explores the orgasm gap between men and women.
Talking to Vanity Fair, Kidman opened up about her steamiest role yet.
She said: "I’ve made some films that are pretty exposing, but not like this."

That's a startling admission from Kidman, who previously starred in the genre-defining erotic thriller Eyes Wide Shut in 1999 - a film so explicit that scenes had to go through a rigorous process of alteration during the post-production phase to ensure it could be released in cinemas.
She went on to add: "This leaves me exposed and vulnerable and frightened when it’s given to the world. I was like, ‘I hope my hand’s not shaking’.
"It’s like, ‘Golly, I’m doing this, and it’s going to be seen by the world’. That’s a very weird feeling. This is something you do and hide in your home videos.

“It is not a thing that normally is going to be seen by the world. I felt very exposed as an actor, as a woman, as a human.”
On the process of filming Babygirl, the 57-year-old actor admitted: "It left me ragged. At some point I was like, I don’t want to be touched. I don’t want to do this anymore, but at the same time I was compelled to do it."
Kidman went on to admit say she knows Babygirl will inspire a range of reactions from the audience.
She added: "That’s vulnerable, but I’m never going to shy away from that to my dying day. I’ll place myself in a vulnerable position, and see where that takes me.”
