I'm A Celebrity's Danny Jones' wife has opened up about why the McFly star became so close to Barry McGuigan in the jungle.

Danny and Barry struck up a super close friendship in camp, with the pair promising to keep in touch after the show.

Speaking to Christine Lampard on Lorraine this week, Danny's wife Georgia Horsley opened up on the heartbreaking reason why they became so close.

"He gravitates to father figures, to older men, because he didn't have that growing up," she said.

"Barry McGuigan is coming for Christmas apparently, so there's that booked in."

Speaking around the campfire last week, Danny referred to Barry as 'his dad'.

"Just like I was scared to do this speech, I was scared to do this show," he said.

"I was exposed, and I couldn't you know hide behind my guitar, and it's been the most uplifting empowering experience I've ever had.

"And I've also found a dad. I love you all."

Danny also opened up about his mental health during the show, leaving viewers feeling emotional after he bravely spoke about his battle with anxiety.

The singer shared the story behind the tattoos on his wrists that read 'Don’t worry, be happy', telling the fellow celebs: "It’s because I’m always constantly worrying, but that’s what I’m working on."

The McFly frontman then went on to explain he's been in therapy since he was 19 to cope with anxiety, and opened up about having a panic attack on live TV during an interview.

He told his campmates: "I was freaking out and I couldn’t answer the question that got asked to me.

"My heart rate goes crazy, I went white, and I felt like I was going to puke."

Danny then put his head in his hands as he broke down in tears, which led Tulisa to comfort him with a hug.

In tonight's final, Ant and Dec crowned Danny the new King of the Jungle.

Danny was joined in the run up by Coleen Rooney in second place and Reverend Richard Coles in third place.

Reacting to the new King of the Jungle, I'm A Celeb viewers were over the moon for Danny.

One wrote: "Congratulations Danny, so well deserved."

While another said: "Really pleased for Danny. Top bloke, shown so many times it’s okay as a man to be vulnerable and show emotion even on live TV."

And a third added: "Congrats to Danny! Could easily have been Coleen - they have both been great! Worthy top three finalists!"

Meanwhile, a fourth commented: "Yes Danny lad! All my votes every single one went to him no regrets, a kind, decent, chilled, funny, upbeat campmate."
