We're just two episodes into the 2024 series of The Great British Bake Off, and already the series has been plagued with headline-hitting issues.
Despite only having kicked off last week, the latest episode of the Channel 4 competition has seen one contestant quit the show, one faint, and another falling - seemingly painfully - off his chair.
We warned you it's been sheer carnage...
Tuesday night's episode of GBBO (1 October) marked 'Biscuit Week' - famously one of the show's most dreaded assignments - and this year's batch of amateur bakers were initially given the task of whipping up a batch of Viennese whirls for the Signature challenge.

Whilst the majority bakers attempted to take the task into their stride, for one contestant, the heat of the tent all became too hard to handle.
University lecturer and this year's token American, Jeff, first reported having felt under the weather during last week's debut episode.
So much so, that he was forced to sit out both 'Cake Week's' Technical and Showstopper challenges.
As a result, no one was sent home from the premiere episode, but all eyes once again fell onto Jeff last week, to determine whether he'd fully recovered from his health wobble.

Despite doing pretty well in his Signature challenge - impressing judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith with his take on Viennese delights - just minutes into the Technical challenge and Jeff once again began to sway.
Walking out of the tent, he told host Alison Hammond: "I'm done."
Whilst viewers were sad to see loveable yank Jeff leaving the show for good, it didn't take long for their attention to turn another another contestant, who collapsed during this week's Showstopper.

After being given the task of creating a puppet scene by using only biscuits, Illiyin - who, last week, received this year's first 'Hollywood Handshake' - seemingly became overwhelmed by the pressure of the tent and collapsed.
"What the hell is going on?" Paul was seen yelling, after which Prue rushed to her side, asking her: "Are you all right?"
The mother-of-two was rolled over onto her side by producers before being rushed out of the view of cameras, all before she'd even had a chance to present her biscuit creation.

Thankfully, Alison's co-host Noel Fielding was able to bring the design up to be judged, with producers confirming that Illiyin would be recovering off-stage.
The chaos wasn't over there, however, and just seconds later, heads were left spinning after a third contestant - 20-year-old Dylan - was seen toppling off his stool before hitting the ground below.
Concerned another star had fainted, Dylan's co-stars rushed over to him to check in, before he told them he was simply reaching for his water bottle before falling too far.
And apparently, we weren't the only viewers who noticed last night's episode was considerably more hazardous than other instalments of the famously relaxing cooking comp.

"This episode of #GBBO is just absolute chaos???" one viewer penned on X during the episode.
Another joked: "Dropping like bloody flies, I know we shouldn't laugh at people's misfortune but that set me off, looks like chaos next week."
"Taste and bake?! They’ve chose chaos this year and I’m living for it! #GBBO," a third noted.
