Every item I’m A Celeb stars are banned from taking into jungle after one campmate breaks strict rules

Dean McCullough was caught red-handed smuggling contraband into camp during last night's episode (20 November)

It's not even been a week since I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! kicked off and there's already been a bunch of controversy surrounding allegedly banned items.

The chat started after ITV viewers accused N-Dubz star Tulisa and her fellow campmate, journalist Jane Moore, of donning some make-up in the jungle.

Since then, there's been a load of interest over what is and isn't deemed contraband in the camp so we've rounded up every item I'm A Celeb stars are reportedly not permitted to take into the jungle after one campmate broke a very strict rule.

BBC Radio 1 star Dean McCullough was caught smuggling none other than tea bags into camp, making the confession to Jane while brushing his teeth before bed.

"I have tea bags," he admitted prompting the Loose Women panellist to ask: "How did you manage that?"

Dean explained: "So if I pour you a cup of tea just, would you prefer it tonight or tomorrow? Would you prefer it in the morning?"

"Tomorrow morning, I'd die. I won't say anything," she promised before hugging while the cameras panned to Ant and Dec.

Dec exclaimed: "Tea! Tea!", while Ant added: "Contraband!" before issuing a warning telling people at home to 'watch this space'.

Dean's since been harangued by Ant and Dec on I'm A Celeb Unpacked following the faux pas.

Pulling him up on the major no-no, Dec warned: "I have to say we're keeping an eye on teagate.

"I don't know if we've seen the bag, something has happened this morning.

"I think we've seen the tea - but we're checking.

"The problem is to normally penalise them we take food off them. They didn't win any food!"

So, other than tea bags - what else is considered contraband in the camp?

Make-up

Any seasoned IAC fans will know all about the controversial no make-up rule that's been broken countless times on the TV show.

Model Amy Willerton, who took part in the series back in 2013, famously smuggled in an entire bag of beauty products while Made In Chelsea's Georgia Toffolo was granted special permission to enter with make-up so she could cover up her severe acne.

"I honestly wouldn’t have been able to look any of my campmates in the eye if I didn’t have my make-up on," she told The Sun after the show.

"When producers told me it was banned I broke down in tears and said, 'I can’t do this'.

"I’ve been to the doctors so much over the years. It’s a medical problem and I’ve been on strong tablets for six months trying to get rid of them."

Georgia continued to explain: "So show bosses agreed that, because it was a medical problem, I was allowed to put foundation on once a day in the morning.

"I wish I could walk around with no make-up on but I have big angry red marks all down the side of my cheeks.

"Some people don’t understand how badly it affects my confidence and upsets me."

Books

Explaining the rules, executive producer Olly Nash stated: "You wouldn’t have books, you won’t have anything like a game of chess.

"So you wouldn’t have anything that could be distracting, part of this game is making sure that you are creating reality and having a chat with other people and doing stuff and dealing with the boredom."

Cycling shorts

Bit of a weird one, but cycling shorts are apparently a major no-no when it comes to packing for the jungle as blogger Giovanna Fletcher, who took home the title of 'Queen of the Jungle' back in 2020, revealed she was banned from bringing her cycling shorts into the castle when it was filmed in Wales.

Explaining the situation to her friend Emma Willis, Giovanna reportedly said she wanted to bring along the clothing item to avoid 'a cockroach up the butt, or any other orifice'.

"But she wasn't allowed because that's clothing - you can only take in the clothing they approved," Emma explained.

Extra underwear

Ever wondered why the campmates wash their clothes so much?

Well, it's apparently because you're not allowed to bring in 'extra' underwear.

According to The Tab, celebs are allowed to bring 'three sets of underwear and three sets of swimwear' into camp with them.

Sentimental belongings

Family messages, as well as any letters, cards or sentimental notes from their nearest and dearest are also reportedly deemed contraband in the jungle.

It may seem pretty harsh, but the campmates aren't allowed to bring along any supportive words of encouragement from their loved ones - packing only the 'essentials' over the more sentimental stuff.

Salt and pepper

While many of the celebs would love a healthy dose of seasoning to make a relentless dinner of boring rice and beans that little bit tastier - this is apparently a luxury they're not granted.

"The campmates are banned from spicing up their meals and as such salt and pepper is banned from the jungle," The Tab notes.

Clocks and watches

And lastly are clocks and watches.

However, contestants aren't totally in the dark as the cast apparently are aware of a 'running order' of the show, which helps keep timings in their head.

Victoria Derbyshire, who was on the reality TV show also in 2020 explained: "The trial takes place after Ant and Dec have come into the castle, live, to announce who the public has voted for."

She also explained that whichever celeb is chosen to do the trial 'doesn’t arrive back until midnight', and then their food gets delivered at some point after that.
