MAFS UK star Kieran issues 'brutal' statement as he reveals real reason behind shocking exit from show

Channel 4 favourites Kieran Chapman and Kristina Goodsell shocked viewers by calling time on their romance last night

Married At First Sight UK star Kieran Chapman has shared a pretty shocking statement on social media after leaving viewers teary-eyed following his unexpected departure from the 2024 series last night.

Despite fans of the show only just coming to terms with the notion that he and wife Kristina Goodsell are no longer an item, the controversial groom has already insisted he 'doesn't regret' ending their marriage.

Tuesday's instalment (5 November) saw Kieran and his on-screen wife Kristina Goodsell call time in their relationship following a rough few weeks - despite having started the series as one of the 2024 line-up's strongest couples.

Recent episodes saw Kieran expressing fear about 'wasting time' with the wrong person, and doubting that he could cope with a bride that suffers from PMDD (premenstrual dysphoric disorder).

Sadly, the pair were unable to make it through the other side of their rocky patch and last night, called time on their romance for good.

In a confrontation that left both cast and crew teary-eyed, Kieran reflected on their MAFS UK journey together.

"I just want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving this your all," he told Kristina. "I just genuinely wish you the best for the future. Don't change for anyone."

Kristina then replied: "Thank you for the most magical, amazing day of my life at our wedding. I'm gutted but I do only wish you the best. You'll be in my life. Don't worry."

Naturally, therefore, following the heartbreaking announcement, fans of the Channel 4 reality show were surprised when Kieran shared a rather blunt statement about their split on social media.

Sharing a collection of snaps alongside his dog-walker ex, the mechanic penned: "Tonight me and @kristinagoodsell left the experiment. Is there a better wife on this series that I could have been matched with? No."

He added, however: "Do I regret letting Kristina go? No."

Attempting to justify his eyebrow-raising remark, Kieran went on: "This sounds brutal, I know.. but I wasn’t the man for Kristina, and she deserves someone to put her on a pedestal.

"Someone who can give their whole self to her, someone who can support her through the highs and lows. But I’m afraid that just isn’t me anymore.

"In the past absolutely, I wanted to be a healer, a helper, someone’s world...".

He went on to confess: "I’m not saying I’m the only one to ever go through really bad times in my life, not at all, but what I did go through has taught me exactly what I want and need from a partner, and although Kristina has a lot of gorgeous qualities, and is a beautiful human, I just can’t be the support that she needs, and that’s really sad.

"Obviously we signed up for a marriage, with the happy ever after and although it didn’t work, we are very good friends. She knows I’m on the other end of the phone if she ever needs me, and same vice versa."

Speaking directly to his former flame, Kieran addressed some of the mistakes he came under fire for on the show - including confessing he may not be able to handle her PMDD battle, and listing the ways she is similar to another of his ex-girlfriends.

"Kristina, first of all I’m sorry," he wrote. "I’m sorry that I couldn’t be there for you, I’m sorry that I’ve been trying to decide over the last couple of weeks whether I have it in me or not.

"I’m sorry I voiced that you have similarities to a previous relationship, and I never meant to compare you. I’m just sorry I couldn’t make it work."

In one final note, the 28-year-old gushed: "Our wedding day, to date, was the most magical day of my life, and I will be forever grateful that it was you who came down the aisle.

"You and I smiled from ear to ear, a long with all of our loved ones AND the production team, and we went back to the hotel with our cheeks in our hands because they were hurting off grinning ALL day.

"A massive thank you to @channel4 and all involved for bringing Kristina into all of our lives, whether that’s in person, or on our screens. Anyone who is ever lucky enough to meet you is blessed."

He continued: "Keep being you, Keep spreading your happiness, you are infectious."

By the sounds of things, not everyone was thrilled with Kieran's response.

"I guess we will never know the truth but those were some really lame excuses," one social media user wrote. "No honesty in his little speech just frantically searching for a way out. Let her down so badly. Disappointing."

Another added: "You treated her badly, made a mug of her. She let herself be vulnerable and you decided she wasn’t enough. I backed you in this show from the very start & feel like you’ve missed out on a wonderful genuinely supportive wife".

Despite the upfrontness of Kieran's comment, Kristina subsequently took to the comments of his post, writing: "Guys please stop this negativity - I’m thriving and so is Kieran in our own ways and celebrating each other for how far we’ve both come xxx."
