Netflix viewers have spotted a 'pattern' that is used for the release of true crime shows, after the Menendez brothers are due to tell 'their story'.
Monsters, The Netflix show portraying the story of the Menendez brothers - Lyle and Erik - has been a huge hit with fans.
The controversial nine-part series landed on Netflix last week, and recounted the story of the wealthy Beverly Hills brothers, who violently shot their parents numerous times until they died.

However, there is a lot more to the story than the boys being money-hungry killers.
The boys testified that they had been subjected to years of abuse at the hands of their father - including sexual, physical and mental.
The brothers initially claimed that the murders had been committed by the mafia, but it wasn't until a tape-recorded confession that Erik subsequently made to his therapist - in which he confessed to the murders - was seized by police that the pair ended up behind bars.

Ryan Murphy's disturbing series has divided viewers thoughts on what they believe, but it is also known that the show contains many inaccuracies.
The real story is set to come to life next week, however, as a new documentary titled The Menendez Brothers will drop on Netflix.
On October 7, Lyle and Erik will finally get to tell their side of the story, but it isn't the first time that Netflix have followed this same process.
Fans noted that they have previously released a drama series, followed by a documentary.

In 2022, just after Netflix had released the Monsters series about Jeffrey Dahmer, a documentary was brought out just a month later.
Taking to X, fans discussed the infamous pattern.
One said: "Everybody surprised and feel off about this, but actually this is not the first time Netflix released documentary shortly after releasing the drama series."

Another said: "The same exact thing with the Dahmer Monster series and then they release the Dahmer tapes, not too long after maybe because people need to see the actual true story because often times do series could be over exaggerated lol."
A third added: "It’s the same type of thing Netflix is doing.
"During the Jeffrey Dahmer story, they first released the series and few weeks later the documentary.
"The same is getting repeated after two years.
