True-crime lovers around the globe have been proper spoilt as of recent after rattling through Ryan Murphy's latest Monsters series, all about the harrowing Menendez Brothers murder case.

Now, while we wait for the upcoming third season of the eerie Netflix series -based on Ed Gein - fans of the programme, which explores Erik and Lyle Menendez murdering their allegedly abusive parents back in 1989, are now being urged to watch a brand-new documentary about a set of 'deadly' twins.

The first episode of the two-part doc, which dropped on ITV just last night (1 October), explores the mysterious disappearance of Lynette Dawson.

Lynette had been missing for over 35 years before a podcast titled The Teacher's Pet shone a new light on the case in 2018.

After the case had been reopened, the missing woman's husband and former schoolteacher Chris, was accused of her murder in 2022.

It was found that Chris had murdered Lynette and disposed of her remains in order to pursue a relationship with one of his teenage students, Joanne Curtis, whom he had been having an affair with.

Chris had met Joanne at Cromer High were he taught.

He was sentenced to 24 years and currently remains behind bars at Long Bay Correctional Centre in Sydney, Australia.

To this day, Chris maintains that he had nothing to do with Lynette's disappearance and alleges that she, instead, walked out of him and their two children, Sherryn and Shanelle.

The series in question is titled Twisted Twins and explores Chris' relationship with his twin brother, named Paul, who was also a professional rugby league footballer.

Just like his brother, he went on to become a PE teacher but taught at a different school.

He went on to marry his wife, Marilyn, and had three children. Both brothers settled down on one of Sydney's northern beaches.

Some spoke of an unusually close bond between the pair which raised alarm bells.

Paul was also accused of having sex with students, but has denied any wrongdoing.

Twisted Twins aims to find out 'what happens when the intense bond between identical twins goes from close comradeship to curse and asks, could their unique relationship – or lack of individual identity – lead to deadly consequences?'

The next episode of Twisted Twins comes out next week (8 October) and will explore 'the brutal killing of a mother in her own home in Atlanta that led police to two unlikely suspects - her identical twin daughters'.

Twisted Twins is currently available to stream on ITVX.
