The latest addition to a 'depraved' horror franchise has certainly kicked things off with a bang - so much so that it's received a ban that hasn't been used since 2006.

Now that spooky season is officially here, there's nothing better than cosying up under a blanket and watching the entire film through your fingers in the name of the season... am I right?

Horror films aren't for everybody - and some are especially not for those who are squeamish about blood and guts.

And if you are one of those, then I'd advise skipping the third instalment of this particular horror franchise, as reports claim few viewers left 'vomiting' or 'walking out of the cinema' entirely.

For those brave enough to have watched Terrifier will know that Terrifier 3 was released today (11 October) in the UK.

The Terrifier film franchise, which kicked off in 2016, centred on party girl Tara (Jenna Kanell) alongside her sister Victoria (Samantha Scaffidi), who end up as targets of the mysterious and evasive serial killer known as Art the Clown (David Howard Thornton) on 31 October.

Each movie takes on a new storyline, with the recently released Terrifier 3 following the story of Art the Clown and his accomplice Vicky Heyes (Samantha Scaffidi) as they pursue Sienna Shaw (Lauren LaVera).

And Terrifier 3 is the latest addition to the franchise - you can watch the trailer here:

The film was so terrifying, in fact, it led the French film classification committee to stamp an 'under-18s restriction' - which hadn't been done since Saw 3 in 2006 as per The Mirror.

It was further explained by the film's French distributor via Bloody Disgusting: “We can only deplore this unexpected final decision, which will seriously hamper the release of the film, awaited by tens of thousands of French viewers and scheduled for October 9 (and of course maintained).

"Terrifier 3 is a film d’auteur in the purest tradition of the slasher genre, with perfectly “grand-guignolesque” and unrealistic violence.

"The film never takes itself too seriously, and we know that viewers will have the necessary distance and maturity to understand and appreciate this artistic approach.”

And while similar reports also occurred around Terrifier 2's release, many viewers believe it's the scariest Terrifier yet.

One person wrote on X: "Jesus. #Terrifier3 is absolutely depraved. Damien Leone continues to push the boundaries to gloriously demented results. The effects are top notch, the Christmas aesthetic works to perfection. David Howard Thornton has never been better. And @_LaurenLaVera_is a goddamn STAR."

Another said: "#Terrifier3 is a little more thought out story wise, it’s still very much a gorefest in the kill dept. As a regular film 5/10, as a horror/christmas/halloween movie 7/10. The most disturbing part was really how some of the audience reacted to some kill scenes."

A third said: "The best film in the franchise! Absolutely amazing, deranged, brilliant, horrifying, and hilarious all at the same time! #Terrifier3."
