Viewers of 'most disgusting movie' ever seen have one piece of advice for people who want to watch 'horrifyingly disturbing' film

The Demi Moore film has viewers shaken to the core

Despite only having been released a matter of days ago, a brand new horror flick has quickly been branded the 'most disgusting movie' ever by viewers.

In fact, the film has caused such a stir in the movie business that fans are issuing some pretty dark piece of advice to those who still haven't feasted their eyes on the stomach-churning flick.

Before we give away what the fuss is all about, let's discuss where this total gore-fest even came from.

Starring huge-name stars like Demi Moore, Margaret Qualley and Dennis Quaid, the movie was first teased to us by filmmaker Coralie Fargeat, who promised fans it would feature several elements of classic terror with an X-rated, contemporary twist.

So, basically, picture 36,000 gallons of fake blood and some prosthetic boobs and you're half-way there.

We are, of course, talking about The Substance, which tells the chilling tale of an A-list aerobics instructor who suffers a heartbreaking blow when her boss fires her on her 50th birthday.

While attempting to handle her devastation, Elisabeth is approached by a laboratory who promises to transform her into an enhanced version of herself by supplying her with a black market drug which transforms her into a younger-looking, spritelier version of herself, who she names Sue.

Refusing to take heed of the drug's need to balance the two personalities, however, Sue begins abusing the drug to stay in her younger form, rarely allowing Elisabeth to see the light of day, forcing her to become old and haggard as a result.

Without giving too much away, the conflict ends in a gory battle for glory, which sees the duo deteriorating in the most blood-chilling of ways...

Anyone else feeling queasy?

Anyway, the movie has become so controversial that, as LBC reports, a staggering 20 people reportedly walked out of one London screening last week.

That said, one viewer has a vital piece of advice he hopes to give to those who are debating whether to buy a cinema ticket, or whether to watch the movie from the comfort of their home when it's released.

Taking to social media, the fan explained: "The Substance has some of the craziest, most disgusting stuff I've ever seen in a movie.

"but if you're going to watch it no matter what and the question is whether you should you see it in the theater, you should absolutely see it in theaters."

Despite having sparked hugely mixed reviews from audience members, one thing is for sure - those who loved the movie, really loved it.

"Finished watching 'The Substance,' and all I can say about this movie is WHAT. THE F**K," one fan wrote on X this week.

"It's one of the most disturbing and disgusting body-horror film I've ever watched! And I meant that in a positive way because this movie is amazing".

Another went on: "You want body horror? The Substance will deliver.

"I f*****g loved it. Weird, interesting, absolutely disgusting. I went in not knowing much other than it being body horror and damn did it do just that. Also the last 20 minutes of the movie is like WTF."

A third gushed: "The Substance was horribly disgusting and one of the best movies I’ve seen in a while.

"Coming off of Skincare (2024) this was such a better look at what trying to stay relevant in a town like Hollywood does to a woman who at one point felt like the center of it all."

Not everyone was overjoyed with the flick they purchased a ticket for, however.

"I think I just watched the most disgusting movie," one penned. "'Substance' with Demi Moore. If I can describe it in one word, it's trash.

"My nervous system has become weak for such films. However, it is at the same time a rather interesting idea and an unusual performance. 7 points out of 10"

Another added: "The Substance is the most disgusting thing I’ve ever seen"
