BBC viewers reckon a seriously dark miniseries eerily predicted real life events and there could be more to come.

Now, for some people, the future can be a really super scary thing to think about - hence the fascination with the likes of Baba Vanga, Nostradamus and even 'Psychic Sally' who have all already shared their harrowing predictions for 2025.

But it's not just self-proclaimed mystics who can allegedly predict what's to come as, on a few occasions, TV shows have also predicted world and celebrity events years before they even happened (we're looking at you, The Simpsons).

However, there's one series in particular which has seemingly predicted a whole bunch of things that have happened in recent years, and it's not gone unnoticed with armchair critics at home.

The dystopian science fiction BBC drama first hit our screens back in 2019.

Written by Russel T Davies, the six-parter stars the likes of Russell Tovey, Emma Thompson, T'Nia Miller, Jessica Hynes and Rory Kinnear.

Now, the series follows 'an ordinary British family' who have to deal with all the weird and weirder happenings after being propelled 15 years forward into an extremely unstable world.

The series is none other than Years and Years and you can check out the official trailer here:

Throughout the series, we see a Ukrainian army taking control of the Ukrainian government, while Russia moves in to 'maintain stability'.

This then leads Ukrainian refugees to seek safety in the UK.

Three years after the series aired, in 2022, Russia invaded Ukraine in a major escalation of the Russo-Ukrainian War, which started a decade ago in 2014.

We also see a massive economic downfall similar to the 2008 financial crash - which feels eerily similar to the financial disarray we're now in following the cost of living crisis.

The series also saw deep fake videos being used in political campaigns.

Swifties will remember that whole scandal earlier this year when Donald Trump shared AI imagery of Taylor Swift appearing to endorse him.

And lastly, arguably one of the show's most eerily accurate predictions, Davies predicted that Queen Elizabeth II would die in 2022, while her son, Prince Charles (now King Charles) took the throne soon after her.

This, as we know, did end up happening.

On the Reddit 'television' thread, one user asked: "What are some TV shows that were strangely prophetic?"

Another commented: "BBC miniseries Years and Years, I feel like no one has seen it but it has even predicted Queen Elizabeth dying in 2022 lmao."

And a final Reddit user penned: "I mean she was gonna die sometimes around there, that was a given, she's not immortal.

"They got lucky to find the exact year (and according to another commenter, they didn't)."

Years and Years is currently available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
