A woman has issued a warning over boxes of Quality Street chocolates after claiming her brother - who suffers from a nut allergy - almost consumed two of the nutty sweets by mistake.
While all Quality Street chocolates carry a ‘may contain peanuts and tree nuts’ warning, the green triangle and the orange crunch contain milk and hazelnuts.
While they are usually wrapped in their signature orange and green wrappers, Nestle explained earlier last month that due to a temporary shortage of green and orange foil the two chocolates have been wrapped in gold and bronze foil for a short period.

Having not heard about the temporary change, the woman took to Facebook to warn others who may also have allergies.
She wrote: "Beware nut allergy warning! Quality Street wrapper changes!
"Anyone with nut allergies be careful with Quality Street chocolates as some of the nut ones are now in the traditional non nut wrappers.

"My brother nearly got caught out today with potential life threatening consequences. Please be careful if someone you know has a serious allergy... There was nothing in the tub he had to warn of this change."
Last month, Anaphylaxis UK issued a statement warning Brits of the change.
"We have been alerted by Nestle that due to a temporary shortage of green and orange foil at their factory last week their Green Triangle (which contains Milk and Hazelnuts) and Orange Crunch sweets (which contain Milk) were wrapped in gold and bronze foil respectively for a short period.

"Foil supplies have now returned to normal, and the sweets are once again wrapped in their traditional green and orange foil. It is not expected that this packaging change will be repeated.
"The sweets themselves, ingredients list, nutritional information and allergens labelling remains unchanged. If you choose to consume Quality Street sweets, do not rely on the colour of the wrapper to identify the sweet. Always check the full allergen information on the label.
"All Quality Street sweets carry a ‘May contain peanuts and tree nuts’ warning."

At the time, Nestle posted about one of the changes on social media, writing on Twitter: "We’ve been foiled! Your favourite #GreenTriangle might be wrapped in gold this Christmas But don’t worry, it’s what’s inside that counts (and it's just the same)!"
Tyla has reached out to Nestle for further comment.
A spokesperson said: “Quality Street is not suitable for people with nut allergies. The sweets are made in the same factory and on the same production lines as each other so it is possible that any of the sweets may contain nuts or traces of nuts.
"That is why every Quality Street pack clearly states hazelnuts as one of the product’s ingredients and carries a warning that the product may contain peanuts and other tree nuts. We do not recommend that Quality Street is consumed by anybody with a nut allergy.”
