Conjoined twins Abby and Brittany Hensel have revealed they only get paid one salary at work, despite holding two different degrees and being different people.

The twins have been in the limelight for some time after being given their own TLC TV show, Abby & Brittany as kids.

They were also featured on the Oprah Winfrey show, where they explained what is like living with a condition called dicephalic parapagus. Now aged 34, the pair have had a lot of major life updates.

For example, the sisters were hired as primary school teachers, and one even went on to tie the knot.

Abby and Brittany obtained separate degrees from Bethel University and are now elementary school teachers in their local town.

However, being paid one salary has left people feeling upset on their behalf.

Abby told the BBC: "Obviously right away we understand that we are going to get one salary because we're doing the job of one person.

"As maybe experience comes in we'd like to negotiate a little bit, considering we have two degrees and because we are able to give two different perspectives or teach in two different ways."

Brittany added: “One can be teaching and one can be monitoring and answering questions. So in that sense we can do more than one person."

Even though the twins have come to terms with it- that doesn’t mean the internet has.

On social media, people were quick to call it ‘unfair’.

One person wrote: “They should get double pay.”

Someone else commented: “Definitely not fair.”

However, some others could understand why they would be paid for one person, considering they share a body.

A commenter wrote: “Because they can’t do two jobs. One job = one salary.”

Another said: “From this context… college tuitions were to train two brains. But in terms of their job, they can only do the same as a one employee. I guess it depends on the job. So yeah… it’s complicated.”

Recently, the pair were in the news after photos of them came out holding what appeared to be a newborn baby.

This immediately sparked rumours that the pair had given birth.

In response, Abby and Brittany shared a clip to TikTok on 30 August and captioned it: "Blessed."

The clip didn’t confirm or deny whether the baby belonged to them.

In the comments of the video, one user wrote: "I have so many questions" and a second shared: "Is this their child? Or baby sitting?"

And a third asked: "So who had the baby? What happens if only one wants to give birth and the other doesn’t?"

Someone else thought this was all the confirmation needed to admit they were now parents and penned: "Congratulations Abby & Brittany, you are amazing girls and have started another amazing adventure."

Someone else added: "I'm glad to see you're still out and about! With that said you don't owe anyone, anything.

"People can wonder all they want, they are not entitled to your lives. I pray the best for you!"
