A dad has divided opinion after admitting he cut off his daughter’s car payments when he discovered she was working as a stripper to support herself while at college.
The 47-year-old dad said he was told by a coworker that his 22-year-old daughter was working as a stripper.
The man then confronted his daughter at the college campus she lives on and urged her to ‘work at McDonald’s and not use her body’ to make some extra cash while studying.

Taking to Reddit’s Am I the A**hole subreddit, the dad explained: “I asked her to quit stripping and get a decent job.
“She refused and said stripping was easy money, so basically I said there was no need for me to pay her car payment anymore since she is making money so easily.
“She got upset and said that wasn’t fair, and that she doesn’t make enough for that. I told her to figure it out.”
The dad went on to say that while his wife wasn’t particularly pleased about their daughter’s choice of job, she didn’t think it was fair to cut her off.

However, the man was adamant, adding: “I think it’s perfectly fair. It’s my money and my decision when to cut it off.”
But it seems that most Reddit users disagreed and ruled that he was, indeed, the a**hole.
One person commented: “YTA [You’re the a**hole]. It's her body to use as she pleases. You're within your rights to stop supporting her but you're being an AH for judging her.”

A second added: “YTA. You should’ve asked the guy you work with what he hoped to gain by telling you this.
“The only reason people have a stigma against stripping is because it’s where a woman is using her body however she likes, and of course men are threatened by it because they get no say over it.
“Are you prepared to destroy your relationship with your child over this? Because it just might.”

Someone else replied: “YTA. People do not turn to sex work unless it’s necessary. I hope you never watch porn or have been to a strip club. You cannot criticise what you consume.”
While another wrote: “YTA. You'd continue the car payment if she worked at Mickey D's, but not if she's a stripper. It's your money, sure. But it's also your relationship with your daughter. Are you willing to sacrifice that to prevent her from ‘using her body’?
A fifth pointed out: “He probably wouldn’t blink twice if his son went to a strip club.”
