Bad news for Greggs fans who are being warned of an urgent Steak Bake recall that’s in place over a ‘possible health risk’.
Festive Bake season is officially over, meaning many of us have had to revert to our old favourites from the high street bakery - which also sells frozen versions of many products in supermarkets.
However, you’ll need to tread carefully if your go-to is usually a Steak Bake, as Greggs has been forced to recall the popular beefy pastry.

A number of its two-pack Steak Bakes contain another of the chain’s staple products after having been incorrectly labelled.
A statement from the Food Standards Agency (FSA) explained: "Greggs is recalling Greggs 2 pack Steak Bake because it contains sulphites which are not declared on the label.
"Due to a packaging error some packs contain Sausage, Bean and Cheese Melts which contain sulphites. These were incorrectly packed in Steak Bake packaging.

"This means sulphites is not declared on the label; therefore the product is a possible health risk for anyone with a sensitivity to sulphur dioxide and/or sulphites."
The specific product being recalled is the 280g Greggs two-pack Steak Bake, which is sold at Iceland stores, with a best before date of 19 May 2025.
The FSA added: "If you have bought the above product and have a sensitivity to sulphur dioxide and/or sulphites do not consume it. Instead return it to your nearest Iceland store from where it was bought for a full refund. For further information, contact Customer Care on +08081 473 447 or [email protected]."
In a recall notice, Greggs apologised for the inconvenience, saying customers would be entitled to a ‘full refund’.

“This 2-pack product is exclusive to Iceland and therefore the recall is only applicable to product[s] purchased from Iceland stores. No other products, date codes or batches are affected.” they said.
Sulphites are found naturally in many foods, but also sometimes used as additives to slow down how quickly food goes off, or to bleach it to make it look lighter.
Some people are particularly sensitive to them, with Anaphylaxis UK saying: “Most people who have reactions to sulphites have sensitivity reactions.

"This type of reaction does not involve the immune system so it is not the same as an allergy, but it can cause allergy-type symptoms that can sometimes be serious. They can affect your breathing, for example.”
It added: “The symptoms of sensitivity reactions differ greatly from person to person, and there is probably more than one cause.
“Sensitivity to sulphites is known to be more common in people with asthma.”
LADbible Group has reached out to Greggs and Iceland for comment.
