Yankee Candle employee explains why some jars have 'Home Inspiration' on label

Some editions of the commonly-gifted candle bare a largely-unknown slogan

For years now, Yankee Candles have had a firm position on the list of most popular stocking fillers for countless shoppers.

With a range of colours and sizes to choose from, it's really no surprise as to why.

There's also a scent for every shopper, with 'Black Cherry', 'Pink Sands' and 'Clean Cotton' taking up some of the most popular fragrances, and other buyers preferring slightly more bizarre smells, like 'Schnitzel and Noodles', and 'Riding Mower'

Only recently, however, have a handful of customers noticed a particularly niche detail inscribed upon several of the best-selling scents.

Whilst on the look-out for the popular candles, you may have noticed that some come with the words 'Home Inspiration' on the label.

And apparently, the revelation has left several customers puzzled.

Are these a true Yankee Candle? What’s the difference? What does it MEAN?

Well, an employee for the brand has revealed that there’s a pretty simple explanation.

In short, yes, they are still Yankee Candles, but they’re not part of the original brand.

TikTok user Ash Reid had posted a video on the platform to reveal that the candles were being sold at Home Bargains for just £4.99, holding up a Warm Vanilla Home Inspirations product to the camera, and then also Sunny Cotton candle.

"This is your sign to run to Home Bargains," she said.

In the comments, an employee for the company pointed out what the ‘Home Inspirations’ line actually was.

"Home Inspiration are not the original Yankee Candles," she wrote, adding: "I work for Yankee Candles and get asked this question regularly, it's a cheaper version."

Indeed, Home Bargains explains on its website: "Make your home the place everyone wants to be! Home Inspiration® from Yankee Candle® is here with scents for every occasion.

"Treat yourself or find the ultimate crowd-pleasing gift that says you truly care."

Others joined in on the conversation online, with one saying the ‘cheaper’ candles ‘don’t smell as strong at all’.

“I second that they don’t smell nowhere near as strong as original Yankees,” another agreed.

But many were just happy to get their favourite candles at a lower cost, with someone else writing: "Yet again, they're still Yankee so who cares.”

One other said: “They're still Yankee Candles though and they tend to have nicer scents."

I mean, at £4.99, I think I'm inclined to agree that whether they're the cheaper version or not, that's still a pretty irresistible bargain.

The employee also shared some more insider knowledge about the candles, after another TikToker asked why trimming the wick ‘doesn’t stop the jar going black’.

She replied: “Avoid placing your candle in a draft if the sorter wick hasn't sorted it as a flickering wick causes soot build up."
