It's arguably a parent's job to embarrass their child at one point or another, but few parents can say they've accidentally mooned the crowd at sports day!

Well, this is exactly what Katie Hannaford, 36, from Essex, did at her daughter's school after she was talked into participating in a parents' race. This is how her daughter reacted:

The eight-year-old buried her head in her hands when her mum's bum was exposed and said: "'Mum, only you could have done that'"

Hannaford made the hilarious revelation on a recent episode of This Morning.

Co-host Holly Willoughby said at least her daughter won't be asking her to take part in anymore races.

She then asked the mum, who showed off her black thong to the watching crowd, how she felt when her bum – which has gone viral – was up in the air.

"When you were down, did you think that 'oh my God please don't let my bottom be up'?" Willoughby asked.

"Yes exactly," she said. "It also kind of went in slo-mo, so I felt it happen but didn't fell the dress go over my head.

"It was only afterwards I thought – 'Oh my God', and I pulled it down obviously."

A mum who accidentally mooned the crowd on her child’s sports day says she’s had over 500 messages from men.

It was the single mum's good sense of humour that caused the footage to give countless people a laugh too, as she was the one to post the video.

She explained: "I didn't put it on [Facebook] for about 12 hours because I wanted to check with the girls they were both happy, but they said, 'No mum, do it'.

"Everyone deserves a laugh. It's funny, you can’t help but laugh at it – we just need to laugh."

This is exactly what happened, and viewers of the video were quick to share in the hilarity.

One viewer joked: "Pity it wasn't a cold day then everyone could have warmed their hands from her red face!"

"I think she won the race hands down and stole the show lol," remarked another, as a third joked: "Bit of a bummer."

Katie was begged by her daughter to take part in the parents' race. (

Hannaford said in the aftermath of the mooning: "I think my body was just moving too fast for my legs! I'm so clumsy, I'm always falling over.

"I was humiliated at the time, but it is what it is! I flashed my underwear which is obviously embarrassing but you just have to own it.

"Looking back, it's hilarious – definitely the funniest thing I've ever done in my life!"
