A mum has issued a terrifying plea to parents to not their let children go to public toilets alone - a plea that has gone viral on TikTok in recent days.

Any parents will be well aware that children often ask to go the loo at the worst possible time - whether that be in the park or while out shopping.

And while the cubicle you are sending your child in at the park may seem a bit sketchy, a lot will often send their child their as you can't really hold it as a child, can you?

However, an influencer who goes by the name of @Twinmomof3boys on TikTok has revealed the awful truth when it comes to sending a child into a cubicle alone.

In a now viral TikTok, the influencer shared how she was told by a follower that she once walked into a bathroom where a man was stood waiting.

The man was apparently 'irritated' as the follower was an adult and not a child.

The TikToker explained: "He was in there waiting for a child. She sat there, at the park, after he left the restroom. She watched him, and she watched the restroom and multiple four to six-year-old kids - girls - went to the restroom by themselves because mother can see the restroom, right?

"But all it takes is for that door to shut and for that door to lock and you will never get your daughter back. You will never get what he does to her back."

What the mum said next is perhaps the most important bit of advice for any parents listening.

She pleaded: "Mums and dads, do not let your children go to restrooms by themselves, even if you can see them walking to the restroom and leaving the restroom."

The TikTok has been viewed more than 9.6 million times at the time of writing, with close to 9,000 people flocking to the comments section.

And unfortunately, it appears that others have been through similar situations.

The terrifying story has frightened a lot of parents.

"When I was 7-10 I always went to the restroom alone and sometimes saw men at the restroom but I didn't mind but until I saw this vid I am terrified," one person wrote.

A second terrifyingly penned: "Agreed I once went into a public restroom as a child, there was a hole but I never realised until a few minutes past and I saw someone’s eye looking."

And a third remarked: "My son is 5 & I take him into the ladies restroom with me, I will not let him go into the men’s restroom by himself."
