Parents have urged Primark to rethink their new clothing line of matching dresses for mothers and daughters.

The floral spring dresses, that start at just £6, were launched last week - but the high-street brand is facing backlash on social media.

It all started when Primark uploaded a video of the matching floral set on their TikTok page, showing two mannequins in identical floral patterns.

"Time to twin with your little one," was the text overlay.

The voiceover also said: "I don't know who needs to hear this, but spring is coming."

However, some parents weren't happy with the new range because they weren't provided the option to match with their sons this spring.

"Some mums have boys, believe it or not. Are we just no allowed to matchy match. Sake," one user wrote.

While another added: "Mum of boys would love it if Primark did a collection where you could match with your little men in your life xx"

A third wrote: "We want to match our boys too! Come on now, my boy would rock that print in a pair of shorts."

And others commented: "Boys forgotten about again?" and: "How about mums with boys? Let's see do wonders by summer 2023."

Notably, not everyone was so disappointed, as one person wrote: "Primark had matching outfits for mum, daughter and son last time I went in you just need to hunt x."

"NO U DIDNT DO THIS OMG I NEEEED IMMEDIATELY," a second said, as another person pointed out: "All those sad about boy mums, it’s like saying ‘what about girls dads? Don’t they matter?’ It’s harder to produce boys clothing that will match mums."

Some were just not feeling the matching-look at all: "I don't know whether to be annoyed that there is nothing matchy for boys or be happy my wife can't force child cruelty of making kids match parents."

Another agreed: "One thing I don't like is dressing like my daughter."

Well, the clothing brand have since defended their new range by reminding shoppers that they have sold matching clothes 'for the entire family' in the past.

In response to the backlash, a Primark spokesperson told Tyla: "We regularly have matching ranges for the entire family, including our famous Christmas fam jams and our Amalfi lemon range last summer.

"Keep your eyes peeled for our upcoming summer family collection, due in stores in a couple of months!"
