A man who took a DNA test 'for fun' has had his life turned upside down after uncovering his 'mum's 19-year-old secret'.
In what was supposed to be a bit of fun at university, the test ended in something the bloke surely could never have predicted.
Taking to Reddit, he explained how the test unveiled a major family secret when his results showed that he is 'half European and half Asian'.

Writing on the social media forum, he wrote: "I have a really great family - with my mum, 46, dad, 50 and twin sisters. We are a typical mid to upper class family but we used to be poor.
"My father's business exploded and absolutely changed our lives for the better. We are not a perfect family but we are always here for each other and I have a deep bond with my parents since we lived in Hell back then."
Alongside all of his uni pals, the lad explained how they had all ordered a DNA test so that they could compare their results with one another.
But while his mates got the results they perhaps expected, this anonymous bloke certainly did not.

He continued: "I told everyone my results would not be that exciting since my parents are both European. Now here’s the problem - I’m only half European and the other half from Asia, mostly China and a bit of India. I’m absolutely sure no one from my family is from there and I know my grandparents really well."
The Redditor then went on to explain that he has a darker skin tone than his siblings though he never really thought much of it.
He continued: "I’m absolutely freaking out that my mum could have cheated on my father. They have been together since they were 18.

"There has been nothing but genuine love between them and mum always supported my father in his ambitious works. I’m losing my mind I need advice please, I’m scared to lose my father I absolutely adore him.
"I tried to bring up DNA tests like a fun thing to do when I video-called my parents. While my father laughed and said why not, my mum stayed quiet and changed subject.”
Once the call had ended, the man went on to say that his mum sent him a text to ‘scold’ him over not focusing his studies instead of the DNA test.

"This semester wasn’t my best but I always had good grades and it has never been an issue between us. She literally told me to not bring this idea anymore and just focus on my study," he added on Reddit.
"I really don’t know what to think. I've never had this kind of text from her, we don’t really argue a lot and I’ve always been close to her. I really feel like there is something hidden.
"I would have forgotten about this test and called it a mistake. But why did she react like that god dammit."
Many in the comments urged the man to re-test in case of an incorrect result.
