A mum and wife has praised her husband's strength after he was forced to choose between treating his own cancer or helping his young daughter after her own diagnosis.
Roberto Ávila Brambila, from Mexico, began treatment with the support of his wife Andrea González after he was diagnosed with stomach cancer in 2021.
The pair shared a daughter, also called Andrea, but their life was upended yet again in 2022 when the four-year-old was diagnosed with brain cancer.

Roberto couldn't afford to continue his own treatment while also funding care for his daughter, leaving him with the horrific decision of whether to try and get better himself or give his daughter a chance at life.
It's a decision no parent should have to make, but Roberto knew what he had to do and decided to give up his own treatment.
The family's story went viral after news of Roberto's selfless act came to light, but despite receiving donations from caring members of the public, it sadly wasn't enough to save Roberto.

The loving father passed away in June 2022, prompting his wife to pay tribute to what an amazing man he had been.
"You kept your promise, you didn't give up," she wrote on Facebook.
"Now I know that you will continue with the promise to always watch over Andy and me from heaven.
"We miss you so much, I will keep my promise and take care of our princess. I love you, until always."

Meanwhile, four-year-old Andrea remained in intensive care as she continued to receive support.
Her mother asked people to pray for her daughter, but sadly her health only declined.
Andrea passed away just a few months after her initial diagnosis, in the same year as her dad.

Tributes have since poured in for two family members, with many noting that dad and daughter are now together again.
One heartfelt tribute reads: "Today we said goodbye to a great warrior, she fought until the end without giving up. Your dad welcomes you into heaven with open arms. Andrea, we are with you, and you are not alone. Today you have two angels in heaven that will give you the strength you need to move forward."
The mum continues to honour her husband and daughter online, in December writing that she misses her two loved ones 'every day, all day'.
Mirroring Roberto's own selflessness, Andrea also uses her platform on Facebook to raise awareness for other people who are sick and in need of help, regularly sharing their stories to help them gain attention and support.
