When it comes to relationships, technology can feel like both a blessing and a curse.
On the one hand, you’ve got shared calendars and household budgeting apps, on the other you’ve got social media stealing away your quality time. It makes it easier to communicate with someone when you’re not together, but then... what if that someone isn’t actually your partner?
Yep, tech often seems like the solution and the problem, having created different hurdles for couples to navigate.

What’s even harder is that what constitutes cheating also may differ from one relationship to another, meaning lines can feel especially blurred.
Back in the day, many people found themselves wondering if watching porn counted as being unfaithful to your partner. As it’s through a screen, does that change the goalposts? Does the lack of interactivity help your case?
We hadn’t even settled that debate when another, more complex setup entered the scene: OnlyFans.

While creators are able to stream pornographic videos, not all of the content is of an overtly NSFW nature – as you’ll know from reading that some people like to flog foot pics on the site.
So where does that leave things on the cheating front? Well, fresh research from news site news.co.au shows that people feel very conflicted about this one.
One woman told the outlet that it was cheating, but depended on the type of content being consumed, while her friend also said ‘how much money’ was being spent also played a part, adding: “If you’re paying for something, interacting and have a particular person of interest, that’s definitely cheating.”
One man described accessing OnlyFans content as a ‘dog act’ as it crossed a line in a relationship, explaining: “If I was with someone for say five years, I’d be like, ‘what’s going on here?’.

“That would be a big fight. Whereas with someone new? Bye.”
While another bloke said he felt OnlyFans is ‘f**ked’ and that he’d ‘break up with them on the spot’ if he found out.
News.com.au had specifically asked people if they thought their partner subscribing to OnlyFans was ‘cheating’, with 47 percent saying ‘Yes, definitely’.

Just 11 percent felt it wasn’t and it was ‘normal’, whereas 42 percent said it ‘depends on the type of interactions they are having with the creator’.
Two other men said they didn’t think it was the same as having an affair, while one just felt it was a ‘waste of money’, saying: “If you have a partner, why do you need OnlyFans?”
