Pornhub reveals huge difference in what Gen Z search compared to other generations

Pornhub has finally dropped its yearly review sharing all the deets about what people watch when they want to get off

Pornhub has finally revealed its annual year in review rundown of all the most commonly-searched words and phrases on the site and it's come just in time for Christmas!

In case you're unfamiliar with the yearly round-up, think of it as kind of like a Spotify Wrapped but for X-rated content, with the people behind Pornhub knowing every user's preferred thing to watch while they *ahem* you know.

Yep, it's not just music taste, technological abilities and the age-old skinny jeans debate that separates Gen Z and its predecessors - it's also what people choose to watch when they're looking to get off.

Interestingly, women worldwide accounted for 38 per cent of all visitors to Pornhub.

The proportional growth in 2024 was +7 per cent, which is a pretty significant jump, which could be evidence of 'changing perceptions around women viewing porn'.

Breaking it down into age demographics, the statistics show the average age of site visitors this year was 38-years-old, climbing +1 year as the last few years have seen the average age remaining at 37.

So, what categories were the generations the most interested in?

Well, just like last year, the generations differed quite a bit from one group to the next.

Gen Z

Gen Z, those in the 18-24 age group, were +392 per cent more likely to view Vertical Videos.

They were also +193 per cent more likely to view Hentai, which the statisticians think 'no doubt' contributed to the popularity of the category, especially considering Gen Z accounts for a large portion of viewers.

"This number increased by 99 percentage points from last year, when Gen Z was +94 per cent more likely to watch Hentai. And as many people like doing, they also viewed Gaming +151 per cent more than the other groups," the experts shared.

Interestingly, Gen Z’s interests were higher around non-porn style porn than actual porn.

For example, Music, SFW (safe for work), and Gaming all appear in their top relative categories with the statisticians theorising: "It seems they are looking to get more from their experience on Pornhub than watching purely sex videos.

"It’s almost like Gen Z is watching Pornhub for the podcasts, like Boomers read Playboy for the articles."

Gen Y (Millennials)

Gen Y, those in the 25-34 age group, clearly seemed to like FMM - footage of a threesome with one lady and two gentlemen - as they were proportionally higher to view the category by +69 per cent.

This number is up +44 per cent from last year, when they were +25 per cent more likely to view the category.

These Millennials also seemed to enjoy Tattooed Women more at +45 per cent, while the Parody category is a new one on the list of which they were +39 per cent more likely to view.

Since last year, their interests have changed significantly, with only Tattooed Women remaining among the group’s top relative categories.

They switched out FFM in 2023 for FMM in 2024.

Gen X

Once again, Gen X, those in the 35-54 age group, differed fairly substantially from the other age groups as they were +46 per cent more likely to watch the Compilation category, while +40 per cent more likely to watch Role play and +28 per cent more likely to watch Feet.

Transgender was again one of Gen X’s top relative categories by +18 per cent and Fisting by +22 per cent compared to other ages.

Boomers

According to the statisticians, Boomers, those in the +55 age group, were 'a little more predictable' in their tastes.

Once again, the categories Handjob, BBW, and Bisexual Male all appeared again on their proportional interests this year.

"However, last year the top spot was the Smoking category and this year it went to Strap On, which was +36% more likely to be viewed," the experts shared.

Additionally, these lot were also more interested in group sex, with Gangbangs and Double Penetration topping their proportional category interests.

Well, the more you know - eh?
