Lip fillers can be great, as can any cosmetic or aesthetic treatment, but they can also come with dangers. One woman found this out the hard way when her face and lips swelled after an allergic reaction to getting her lips dissolved, which resulted in an emergency hospital trip.

Courtney Bell has shared the dramatic reaction she had after getting 1ml of her lip filler dissolved, which resulted in swollen lips, being unable to speak, and a puffed face.

Courtney Bell has shared the dramatic reaction she had after getting 1ml of her lip filler dissolved, which resulted in swollen lips, being unable to speak and a puffed face.

Sharing her reaction on TikTok, Courtney showed her 'before' picture prior to showing how her face and lips reacted over the next few hours. Instead of getting smaller after her lip filler was dissolved, Courtney's face actually got bigger and looked painfully swollen before she headed to hospital for medical help.

Starting the video, Courtney explained: "This is me before I got my lips dissolved. I've got 1ml in my lips. This is me straight after the appointment, so literally straight after."

Her lips swelled quickly after the dissolving treatment.

Next, she showed a picture of her face from after her appointment, saying: "This is about two hours later. They felt like they had air in them and that they were gonna pop and I couldn't speak at this point.

"This is how I went to sleep - very sore. And this is how I woke up. As you can see, my face is really inflamed and red and really sore and this is when I started to get worried."

Courtney then hoped that going to bed would mean she might wake up feeling better in the morning. Yet when she woke up, her face looked even more swollen, as she continued to explain: "This was like an hour into that day, when I woke up. I couldn't talk at this point, I was spitting and words weren't being said properly.

Courtney's lips continued to swell.

"My tongue had grown a lot, so that was quite swollen. My neck was so swollen as well. I decided to go to the hospital. The doctor gave me some tablets to take and also noticed the patch test on my arm, which he said that the red mark shows an allergic reaction, so it shouldn't have really been done."

The video has struck a chord with TikTok users, who were shocked at how quickly Courtney's face swelled. One TikTok user commented: "Oh my, that looks so painful."

Another added: "This must have been so scary."

A third commented: "Can’t believe they injected you, that's clearly a positive patch test."

Some users also used the video to tag others and warn them about the dangers of cosmetic treatments, as one person tagged a loved one and wrote: "This is why I don’t want you to get lip filler."
