A five-year-old girl has tragically died after being strangled by a swing in her family's back garden.
Aurora Masters, from Colorado in the US, was playing on a disc swing when what was just ordinary fun turned into something far more devastating.
According to the City of Fort Collins Police Department, officers arrived on the scene and administered medical treatment to the child until Emergency Medical Services (EMS) also arrived.

Aurora was then taken to a local hospital where she was treated until she sadly succumbed to her injuries and died earlier this week (11 May).
“She pulled her little plastic slide over to where her swing was,” Brenda Kennedy, the child's great-aunt, told FOX3, "and somehow got caught up in the swing, and the swing strangled her."
"Aurora was without oxygen and that caused her brain to swell. An MRI today confirmed that the swelling was significant enough that it will not go down and we have made the difficult decision to transition Aurora to end-of-life care and organ donation," Brenda wrote on the online fundraiser, GoFundMe.

She was then kept on life support for two days to preserve her organs, which have since been donated to other children in need.
According to USA Today, the Fort Collins Police Department is not investigating Aurora’s death any further.
The police department also confirmed to the outlet that there was no probable cause of any criminal behaviour and has ruled the incident a tragic accident.

In a recent update from yesterday (16 May), Brenda wrote: "Our sweet Aurora Rae has once again demonstrated her ninja quality of bravery, partnering with the Donor Alliance to complete her giving of gifts.
"She is demonstrating the qualities of a black belt.
"Our hearts are shattered and we continue the journey to honour and celebrate her worldly gifts.
"She was escorted home today with the assistance of the Sentinels Motorcycle Club. Services are pending in Fort Collins, Colorado."

Brenda shared that any money raised from the fundraiser, which has currently at $29,913 USD raised of its $30,000 goal, will go toward Masters' memorial and funeral services with the remainder going towards organisations that honour her memory.
"Thank you for all your love expressions to our family," she added. "You are sustaining our hearts!"
