Hear me out…
After the specialist spa raised some eyebrows on its offering and went viral, the doctor in charge of the facility clapped back to explain exactly why the business opened and how it helps people in need.
A lot of people who found out about the spa were pretty freaked out by the concept of the retreat, and you can understand why.

It was initially opened by Dr. Colleen Ann Murphy, a trained and licensed medical doctor with a vision of providing a place for adults to go and wear diapers (nappies to you and me), behave like infants and take part in age regression play.
Officially, it’s known as paraphilic infantilism and it’s the act of people receiving enjoyment from acting like a child or even a baby.
However, news outlets soon dubbed the spa as a ‘disturbing’ and ‘sick’ business after the conservative X account Libs of TikTok began to spread its content around the internet.

This also lead to onlookers taking on the same view.
Sportskeeda reported that those who live in Atkinson even launched a petition to have the spa’s license rejected, but the doctor in charge maintains that it’s important for those who suffer with trauma.
Speaking to The Focus, Dr. Murphy said the service provides ‘high-quality serious care’ to ‘those who have suffered trauma, abuse, deal with chronic or progressive disease, or deal with stress triggers.’

She also is adamant that her business provides ‘comfort and solace, providing a haven from the stresses, traumas, and triggers they have faced in their history or that they face daily’.
Dr. Murphy said: “We all have our own coping strategies, some not so healthy, such as drugs, smoking, cutting, alcohol addiction, dysfunctional relationships with food, gambling, or even compulsive shopping.”
According to the company website, ‘The Diaper Spa is here to serve all diaper-wearing individuals who seek acceptance, respite, and care’.

It mentions: ‘Activities range from playtime, story time, nap time, cuddle time, changing time, coloring, nursery rhymes, and sing-a-longs’ and that anyone over 21-year-old can join.
With a ‘nursery’ on-site which ‘smells like baby powder and warm cookies’, there are also ‘soft blankies and stuffies’ and a machine which plays ‘womb noises’ for attendees.
For $300 an hour for a ‘spa-like nursery experience’, and a minimum stay of 2 hours, people are certainly paying premium to get their needs met.
