Jimmy Kimmel almost broke down in tears while making an extremely emotional speech about Donald Trump’s election win.
Trump was announced as the 47th president of the United States yesterday (6 November) after beating Democrat rival, Kamala Harris, to the leadership.
The 78-year-old, who is also the first convicted felon to serve in the presidential role, has made a series of vows on what he'll do following his win, and many of these seriously impact global affairs, the climate, women, the LGBTQ+ community, and many other minority groups.
This win makes Trump the second man in history to serve two non-consecutive terms as US president after previously being in power between 2017 and 2021, before losing to Joe Biden in 2020.

The Republican, who has also been accused of sexual assault and harassment by dozens of women, which he's denied, will be 82 years old at the end of his term.
Many political figures and celebrities alike have since shared their thoughts on the election results, and Jimmy Kimmel was brutally honest about his thoughts on the convicted felon returning to the White House once again.
The talk show host began: "Last night, we had the choice between a prosecutor and a criminal and we chose the criminal, more than half of the country voted for the criminal who is planning to pardon himself for his crimes."

As he continued his monologue, Kimmel became visibly emotional and held back tears as he lamented: "It was a terrible night for women, for children, for the hundreds of thousands of hard-working immigrants who make this country go, for health care, for our climate, for science, for journalism, for justice, for free speech.
"It was a terrible night for poor people, for the middle class, for seniors who rely on social security, for our allies in Ukraine, for NATO, for the truth, and democracy, and decency.
"And it was a terrible night for everyone who voted against him. And guess what? It was a bad night for everyone who voted for him too, you just don't realise it yet."

Kimmel later concluded his speech after trying to 'come up with something positive'.
"I’m gonna say something that Trump would never say unless it favoured him," the host added. "The people voted and this is the choice we made.
"In January, Donald Trump becomes president and that’s that, he won. It doesn’t mean we give up, but it also doesn’t mean we storm the Capitol because we don’t like the result," Kimmel noted, referencing the storming of the Capitol back in 2021 after Trump's defeat in the 2020 presidential election.
He continued: "And I know a lot of people want to hear anything positive. I’ve been trying to come up with something positive.

"The best I can come up with is we’ve been through this once before and yes, this time it is probably going to be worse, maybe a lot worse, but I also think that maybe we will look back and realise that in the long run, this is what we needed to wake us up."
Kimmel concluded: "Maybe the people who care so much about him need to find out how little he cares about them."
