The series was initially released on Channel 5 before coming to the popular streaming service and it takes a fresh look at the complete chaos that is family holidays - with some unexpected, dark twists.
According to its IMDb synopsis, The Holiday follows 'four families [who] gather for a dream luxury holiday but a dark secret triggers fears of betrayal and ends in murder.'
The series starts by introducing us to Kate (Jill Halfpenny), a police officer who thinks her husband Sean (Owen McDonnell) is having an affair.

It's unclear who the affair might be with, in fact, she suspects it could be one of the three friends she's on vacation with - Jenny (Liv Mjönes), Rowan (Siobhan Hewitt) or Izzy (Cat Simmons).
As secrets and speculations threaten the group, the third episode takes a fiery turn, literally, as Jenny's son Jake (Shaun O'Callaghan Wade) accidentally starts a shrub fire.
If that wasn't bad enough, in the same episode it's revealed that Izzy was pushed off a mountain and onto some rocks.
So, who killed Izzy? And who was having the affair with Sean? Well, that's the ending that has viewers up in arms: first off, turns out Sean wasn't having an affair at all, he was just acting sneaky and messaging Jenny to cover for their teenagers Jake and Lucy (Lara McDonnell).

You see, Jake ran over Lucy's ex-boyfriend after he shared a clip of her having sex with him around to the other kids in town.
Sean, who saw the hit and run, was trying to cover for the kids, which is why he and Jenny were in cahoots.
Right, now that's cleared up, who killed Izzy?

Turns out, Jenny did - as Rowan's young daughter Odette (Molly McCann) told her parents.
The young girl saw the two women struggle on the cliff's edge, presumably because Izzy had found out about Jake.
Jenny also nearly threw Kate's other kid, Danny (Aidan McCann), off a cliff but Kate saved him just in time.
And, if that feels like one of the most intense series endings you've heard in a while - you're not alone.
