Presidential hopeful Kamala Harris has come under the fire of online conspiracy theorists who refuse to believe her earrings are harmless pieces of jewellery.
Democratic candidate Harris, 59, who is running against Republican candidate Donald Trump, 78, faced off with her opponent in a debate on 10 September.
While Trump made headlines for his nonsensical rants about 'transgender operations on illegal aliens' and unsubstantiated claims of people eating pet cats and dogs in Springfield, Ohio, some of his supporters ignored all of that and took aim at Harris' jewellery choice.

Harris took to the podium dressed in a pantsuit, complete with a pair of pearl earrings, which appear to be from Tiffany & Co.
But conspiracy theorists are accusing Harris of wearing an earpiece - rather than earrings - during the debate.
Harris has been seen wearing the gold and pearl earrings in public before, though they didn't garner the same theories then.

The social media users have accused Harris of wearing a pair of smart audio earrings designed by German start-up company NOVA.
The only obvious similarity between the earrings and the audio earrings is that they both feature a pearl.
Back in 2021, Harris said she prefers to use wired headphones as she believes bluetooth headphones to pose a 'security risk', as per Newsweek, but this hasn't stopped the speculation.
An account on Elon Musk's X, The Maverick Approach, who purports to be an 'alternative news source', led the conspiracies.

One post from the account read: "'YOU'RE BUSTED!
"I told myself she was fed what to say during the debate and my hunch was right.
"Nova is the world's first and only wireless earphone earrings.
"Nothing is what it seems."
The NOVA H1 Audio Earrings, which Harris is being accused of wearing, are supposedly the 'first clip-on earphones on the planet'.

A kickstarter page for the earrings states: "Like conventional earrings, the NOVA H1 are placed on the earlobes and project the sound from inside the pearl straight into your ear canal.
"The sound travels from the earlobe to the ear canal avoiding sound leakage and keeping your conversations and music private and secure.
"Two tiny high-end microphones are integrated into each Earring providing the user with crystal clear phone calls and wind-noise cancellation."
It's widely understood that Harris was in fact wearing a pair of Tiffany & Co earrings, most likely the 'Double Pearl Hinged Earring', which are available on the website for $800.
