If you've ever dreamed of working for the royal family, this may be your chance - provided you're able to do this one thing.

A new job opportunity has opened up, with the lucky candidate being able to work alongside the Prince William and Kate Middleton at Kensington Palace.

Since officially being given the titles of Prince and Princess of Wales by King Charles III following Queen Elizabeth II's death in 2022, Kate and William are seemingly looking to strengthen their relations to the country.

As such, those applying for the role - Assistant Private Secretary, Wales UK - need to have a deep understanding of Wales, be knowledgeable about Welsh communities, affairs and internal business.

But that's not all. The successful candidate will need to be able to have a conversation in Welsh, while fluent written and spoken Welsh is a 'desirable' plus.

The job posting reads: "This is an exciting opportunity to join the dedicated team at Kensington Palace, supporting TRH the Prince and Princess of Wales.

"The Assistant Private Secretary for Wales & UK will lead the planning and delivery for most of TRH’s public engagements in Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland, and contribute to the development of the Household’s strategy to maximise impact across the constituent nations of the UK, with a particular focus on Wales."

If your Welsh isn't rusty, you still have some time to apply as the job closes later today (19 July).

As for Kate and William, the royal couple may not be fluent in Welsh just yet but are certainly taking some steps in the right direction.

In 2022, Reverend Steven Bunting told the PA news agency that William was learning the basics, including the word for 'cup of tea'.

"We already know they love Wales, but having them here has been amazing and is an early sign, I think, of their commitment to Wales," the Reverend said at the time.

"They've blown us away by speaking to every person young and old, it shows how wholly committed they are to their role as Prince and Princess of Wales.

"The Prince of Wales was even talking about learning Welsh, and said he'd learned the word 'paned' meaning cup of tea and ‘bara brith’. I think he's taking being Prince of Wales very, very seriously."

If you're interested in the role, you can apply here.
