This Is Us star Milo Ventimiglia fights back tears as he watches home burn down with eerie similarity to show

Milo Ventimiglia noted that the similarities between the two events were 'not lost' on him

Actor Milo Ventimiglia watched on security cameras as his LA home burnt down, but the star described it as a 'life imitating art' experience after filming This Is Us.

Out-of-control wildfires are ripping through parts of Los Angeles, and evacuation has been necessary for many who live there - including celebrities.

LA is known for being an A-list hotspot, but no one is safe in the hands of a natural disaster.

Paris Hilton and Adam Brody are just two big names that have lost their homes because of the deadly fires, but it isn't the first time that actor Milo Ventimiglia has had to watch a home on fire.

The This Is Us star shared that he was forced to evacuate his LA home with wife Jarah Mariano, who is currently nine months pregnant.

The 47-year-old watched on through security cameras on January 7 as the Palisades Fire burnt down the home they had built together.

The star had filmed an eerily similar scene for This is Us.

Speaking to CBS News about his loss, he said: "It’s heavy. You start thinking about all the memories in different parts of the house and whatnot, and then you see your neighbours' houses and everything kind of around and your heart just breaks."

But the star added: "It’s not lost on me, life imitating art."

He previously opened up to Variety about the house fire episode of This Is Us.

Ventimiglia said back in 2018 on filming the scene: "There was fire right in front of me.

"Standing feet away from it, there were moments where the hiss of the gas line of fire — it’s kind of a high-pitched whine — would be completely overtaken by the score of real fire, which is deep and booming and angry and something that I hope many, many people never have to face."

Reflecting on what matters most following the tragic events this week, the actor noted that everything they lost were just 'things'.

He said: "We’ve got good friends and we got good people we’re working with and we’ll make do.

"Wife and baby and dog, most important."

After watching the footage of their house, the star explained that the couple have 'accepted' what's happened, despite losing the brand new nursery they had decorated, as they anticipate the arrival of their newborn.

"I think there’s a shock moment where you go, ‘This is real and this is happening,'" he added.

"Then at some point, you just turn it off… what good is it to continue watching?"
