A four-year-old boy has died following an incident at a Center Parcs resort in Wiltshire.
The incident took place this morning (24 December), when Wiltshire Police were called to the scene at the leisure complex at Longleat, Wiltshire alongside the South West Ambulance Service.
Center Parcs UK confirmed the 'serious incident' had taken place in the Subtropical Swimming Paradise water park, adding this morning that it would provide further updates 'when it's appropriate to do so'.
Addressing the situation this morning, a Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: "We're in attendance at Longleat Center Parcs near Warminster in support of South Western Ambulance Service following reports of a serious medical incident involving a child shortly after 11am today."
Just a few hours later, a spokesperson for the police department shared a statement to confirm the young boy had died, just one day before Christmas.
The statement said: “Sadly, it’s been confirmed that a four-year-old boy has died following an incident at Center Parcs Longleat Forest near Warminster shortly after 11am this morning.
“This is not being treated as suspicious. Our thoughts are with the boy’s family at this difficult time."
The Subtropical Swimming Paradise water park is located inside the Center Parcs resort and remains at 29.5°C all year round.
It is filled with tropical plants and trees, and attractions inside include a wave pool, 'Wild Water Rapids', water play areas, whirlpools and a 'gravity-defying Tropical Cyclone' ride.
The Wiltshire branch of the holiday village resort company is situated in Longleat Forest and is stretched across 400 acres of land.
