People are absolutely enthralled by one Olympian's performance at this year's Paris games - due to his very unconventional look.

The Olympics, which has had viewers well and truly enthralled since with the illustrious opening ceremony on 26 July - and will keep going until 11 August - has seen Team GB gain six gold medals at the time of writing.

China are currently leading the way with a whopping nine gold medals under their belt, and tensions are high.

While it's easy to think of swimming and tennis as sports, for those who perhaps aren't in the know, shooting is a sport at the Olympics, and usually requires some specialised glasses (at the very least).

The 10-metre air pistol mixed team event took place on 30 July, and photos have since gone viral all over the world.

The photos in question are of 51-year-old Turkish shooter, Yusuf Dikec, who along with his partner, Sevval Ilayda Tarhan, earned the silver medal for their country.

Dikec's performance has captured the attention of millions due to his complete lack of protective equipment, and casually keeping one hand in his pocket.

Olympic shooters typically opt for overhead ear protection when they shoot, as well as protective and specialised glasses that ensure the competitor can use one eye to entirely focus on the target - and they also sometimes have tinted lenses that prevent an irritating glare.

Meanwhile, his opponents were kitted out in the usual gear.

Dikec and Tarhan very narrowly missed out on winning gold, but seemed delighted with their silver win.

One account on X posted: "Turkey sent a 51 yr old guy with no specialized lenses, eye cover or ear protection and got the silver medal."

Another person responded: "Dude looks like he just decided to join the Olympics when he woke up this morning."

A third said: "with both eyes open and hand in his pocket..that’s 1000 AURA."

A final added: "Would’ve won gold if he was allowed to smoke a cigar while doing this."

Pictures of shooters are impressing many on social media, with snaps of South Korean Kim Ye-ji going viral after she placed silver in the women's 10 metre air pistol event at the Olympics.

She showed up to the competition wearing a white cap, personalised shooting glasses that featured the Olympics logo and clutched onto her daughter's stuffed animal while she took her shot, all the while maintaining a very relaxed demeanour.

One person wrote: "Super cool! Kim Ye-ji's precision and style are on another level."

While another mused: "Kim Yeji is the coolest thing to happen in the entire Olympics, if you're not aware of how badass she is you're not paying attention."
