She might be walking away from this year's Olympic Games with three glimmering gold medals around her neck, but fans of Simone Biles have today discovered that the gymnast is far from invincible.

In fact, in a shocking revelation, news has broken today that the 27-year-old seemingly sustained injury during her most recent routine, which saw her land in second place with a silver medal during yesterday's nail-biting floor tournament.

Throughout the duration of the Parisian sporting games so far, Ohio-born Simone has ruthlessly succeeded in defending her groundbreaking title as the most decorated gymnast in history.

Last week, the athlete won the all-around gymnastics title for her second Olympic gold in Paris and sixth overall, with her numerous victories having been awarded before crowds of starry-eyed fans.

Tragically, however, the gymnast's success came to an unexpected halt yesterday (Mon 5 Aug), when she sadly suffered an out-of-character mistake during the 10cm-wide individual balance beam.

After losing her balance and falling to the floor, Simone landed in fifth place.

She also went on to narrowly missed out on her fourth gold medal the same day, after she landed with both feet outside the floor area twice during the floor competition.

Despite initially putting on a brave face following her devastating double-whammy, it looks as though Simone's recent performances have taken quite a toll on her health.

The much-loved sportswoman was subsequently spotted doing an interview with her lower leg strapped up in a boot after suffering a calf injury.

Thankfully, however, she assured NBC's Mike Tirico that the measure was just to prevent further damage to her ligaments ahead of her tour next month.

"Calf is good," she explained. "Just precautionary. Making sure because we still have tour after this - to heal up and all of that stuff.

"So just a little bit of soreness."

And naturally, Simone's attitude has seen her heaped in mass praise from her fans, many of whom can't comprehend the performance she completely just hours ago.

Taking to Twitter to share an image of the sport star, one gushed: "mind you she just won a floor medal like 12 hours ago? She’s so scary to me"

"I'm looking at her achievements and literally how is she real," another wrote. "she literally fears nothing her leg is in a boot and she's just sitting there pretty."

A third went on: "She managed to win multiple medals even tho she was injured".

I know. What a woman.
