It seems that Donald Trump wants to make it crystal clear he has no plans to go anywhere, anytime soon.

The Republican leader, 79, has sparked concern with a new Truth Social post, hinting that he still wants be United States president in 2048.

It's not the first time Trump has made comments about outstaying his role and running for president again, despite a third term being strictly prohibited in the US Constitution.

For those unfamiliar, the 22nd Amendment states: "No person shall be elected to the office of the president more than twice, and no person who has held the office of president, or acted as president, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected president shall be elected to the office of the president more than once."

In an interview with NBC back in March, Trump said that there were 'methods' for doing so and insisted that he was 'not joking'.

He told the publication: "A lot of people want me to do it. But, I mean, I basically tell them we have a long way to go, you know, it’s very early in the administration."

And when speaking to CBNC in August, he added: "I got the highest vote in the history of Texas, a record that they say won't be beaten unless I run again."

When asked whether this was something he was considering, Trump said: "No, probably not. I'd like to run. I have the best poll numbers I've ever had. You know why? Because people love the tariffs and they love that foreign countries aren't ripping us off anymore."

However, his new Truth Social post has left people confused as it depicts what appeared to be a TIME magazine cover featuring a number of signs, which as the video zooms in on, read 'Trump 2028', 'Trump 2032', 'Trump 2036', 'Trump 2040', 'Trump 2044' and so on.

Now, whether he means himself, other members of the Trump family carrying on in his place, or simply just his policies continuing, some people have been left worried.

One Twitter user wrote: "Trump isn’t joking. When he posts signs for 2040, 2044, 2048, he’s telling us he has no intention of ever stepping aside. He’s embraced the identity of a ruler and dictator, not a president. He believes power is owed, not loaned by the people."

While a second commented: "He’s been posting it forever now. Do people believe him yet?"

And a third penned: "If Obama or Biden posted s**t like this Republicans would never stop talking about it. He’s setting America up for a fascist takeover."

Meanwhile, another added: "Trump is telling you he isn’t leaving office."

One user, who's convinced her's referring to his children, said: "Donald jr, Eric, Barron. What’s so hard to grasp?"

Someone else agreed: "That could happen, there are other Trump family members that could run."
