Would it even be an article about Donald Trump if it didn't mention the words 'conspiracy theory'? No, I didn't think so.
Anyway, this week it's a remark the incoming president made about close confidant Elon Musk that has really set tongues wagging - with fans of the Republican duo now under the impression that the Tesla boss somehow 'rigged' November's election which saw Trump take the victory.

Much to the dismay of many left-wing Americans, Musk and Trump have formed somewhat of a partnership since the politician announced his plans to run for office for the fourth time (third as a Republican, once for Reform).
During his campaign, the 53-year-old X owner was hired by Trump as the new co-head of the Department of Government Efficiency.
As we say, however, a comment Trump recently made about Musk has sparked conspiracy theories of foul-play behind the scenes.
Speaking to excited fans at his victory rally last night (19 Jan), the father-of-five spoke fondly of his tech boss pal whilst welcoming Musk to join him on stage, describing him as someone who 'knows computers better than anybody'.

The pair embraced one another, with Musk - who also brought his four-year-old son, X Æ A-12 (pronounced ex-ash-ay–twelve) onto the stage announcing the changes he has planned in his new role as a member of Trump's government.
"All those computers. Those vote-counting computers," Trump, 78, went on to gush in his welcoming remark. "And we ended up winning Pennsylvania like in a landslide. He journeyed to Pennsylvania where he spent a month-and-a-half campaigning for me in Pennsylvania and he's a popular guy.
"He was very effective... Thank you to Elon."

Prior to Trump's victory, Pennsylvania was considered a swing state - meaning it could have gone in Democratic representative Kamala Harris' direction in November.
Sadly for some, however, the Republican candidate secured every single swing state that night.
Whilst the conspicuous comment may have been made in jest, its relevance at this particular political event has left some critics of Trump wondering whether he may have been hinting at some kind of rigging behind the scenes.
Taking to social media to touch on the latest 'theory', one questioned: "Sounds like a confession that Elon Musk changed vote totals to hand him the election".

"Sounds like musk rigged the voting!" another went on.
"Just can't help bragging about his crimes," a third jibed.
In response, a handful of Trump's followers have brushed off the accusations, with one writing online that it's 'so funny to watch the left turn into conspiracy theorists'.

"You sound like an election denier," another penned.
This wouldn't be the first time, however, that Trump's name has been uttered in the same sentence as the word 'rigged', with the new 47th president previously alleging he lost the 2020 election to Joe Biden as a result of voter fraud and illegal rigging.
