Donald Trump has appointed Mel Gibson a new role, but it seems the Hollywood star learnt of his appointment 'at the same time' as social media.
We are just days away from seeing Donald Trump become the next president of the United States.
His inauguration is set to take place next Monday (20 January), after he won the election in November against Kamala Harris.
And while some of his nearest and dearest are taking a step away from politics, including his daughter Ivanka, Trump is continuing to announce who will help him during his presidency.

The 78-year-old certainly isn't known for being conventional, and neither are some of his chosen advisors.
Elon Musk, for example, was revealed to be tasked with running Trump's new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
But in a wild turn of events, that we don't even think he himself expected, Mel Gibson has been appointed a position.

Alongside Jon Voight and Sylvester Stallone, Gibson will serve as a 'special ambassador' to Hollywood - which Trump has previously deemed a 'troubled place'.
Writing on Truth Social, the president-elect said: "They will serve as Special Envoys to me for the purpose of bringing Hollywood, which has lost much business over the last four years to Foreign Countries, BACK - BIGGER, BETTER, AND STRONGER THAN EVER BEFORE.
"These three very talented people will be my eyes and ears, and I will get done what they suggest."
He added: "It will again be, like The United States of America itself, The Golden Age of Hollywood!"

But it seems as though the three stars weren't consulted about this role prior to the announcement.
While both Voight and Stallone are yet to comment, Gibson has noted that he found out 'at the same time' that it was announced online.
Speaking to Variety in a statement, he said: "Nevertheless, I heed the call.

"My duty as a citizen is to give any help and insight I can."
Just days after the actor lost his home in the Los Angeles wildfires, Gibson added: "Any chance the position comes with an Ambassador's residence?"
The actor was one of the thousands of people to have been affected by the LA fires, previously telling NewsNation’s Elizabeth Vargas Reports: "Obviously, it’s kind of devastating. It’s emotional. I was doing the Rogan podcast and [I was] kind of ill at ease while we were talking, because I knew my neighbourhood was on fire, so I thought, I wonder if my place is still there.
"But when I got home, sure enough, it wasn’t there. I went home and I said to myself, well, at least I haven’t got any of those pesky plumbing problems anymore.

"I had a lot of personal things there that, you know, I can’t get back."
