Amid talks of a 'trade war', Donald Trump has now released a statement threatening to hit Europe with severe tariffs on products.
The latest update comes just hours after UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and several representatives of the European Union publicly responded to a number of tariffs Trump had already placed upon steel and aluminium imports earlier this week.
Speaking to press yesterday (12 March), Starmer insisted that 'all options' would be kept 'on the table' for the UK.

As per PA, Starmer also declared that his country would be open to possible retaliatory measures, in response to 25 percent tariffs Trump declared in the days prior.
Speaking at Prime Minister’s Questions, the 62-year-old leader confessed: "I’m disappointed to see global tariffs in relation to steel and aluminium."
Starmer added of the UK, 'We will take a pragmatic approach', explaining that he is in the midst of 'negotiating an economic deal which covers and will include tariffs if we succeed'.

As mentioned, Starmer told MPs: "But we will keep all options on the table."
In response to Trump's initial news, it was understood that jobs in the beleaguered British steel industry could now be at risk, being that the UK failed to secure an exemption to the Republican's global tariffs - which have also sparked mass backlash in other countries.
As we say, Trump has now provided yet another update on the matter.
Taking to his social media platform Truth Social today (13 March), the US president penned: "The European Union, one of the most hostile and abusive taxing and tariffing authorities in the World, which was formed for the sole purpose of taking advantage of the United States, has just put a nasty 50% Tariff on Whisky.

"If this Tariff is not removed immediately, the U.S. will shortly place a 200% Tariff on all WINES, CHAMPAGNES, & ALCOHOLIC PRODUCTS COMING OUT OF FRANCE AND OTHER E.U. REPRESENTED COUNTRIES.
"This will be great for the Wine and Champagne businesses in the U.S."
Last week, the Republican administration hit goods from Canada with a brutal new 25 percent tariff after which Canada retaliated by adding its own 25 percent tariffs onto $155b in US goods.

On Tuesday (11 March), Trump subsequently told press he'll be increasing tariffs on goods from Canada from 25 to 30 percent following Canada's retaliation.
It is understood that such drastic tariffs will also severely affect the Chinese economy.
In a statement also released on Wednesday, Trump insisted he would 'of course' respond to the countermeasures, repeating his warning to later announce 'reciprocal' tariffs next month on countries across the globe.
While meeting with Ireland's Taoiseach Micheál Martin, in the Oval Office, Trump declared: "Whatever they charge us with, we're charging them."

The statement was made when the pair were discussing the EU's counter-measures announced by the 27-member bloc.
Trump went on to emphasise that, it does not matter whether the EU charges 20 percent or 200 percent, it'll face the same retaliatory tariff.
"We have been abused for a long time, and we will be abused no longer," he said, claiming that the EU 'treats us very badly'.
