Elon Musk has made a major claim about Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in a bizarre Twitter rant.
Musk, a White House senior advisor to Trump who bankrolled his second-term campaign, has made his views on Zelenskyy extremely clear after taking to X on Thursday (6 March).
The last week or so in particular has highlighted the clear tensions between Trump and Zelenskyy following his and vice president JD Vance's heated exchange with him last week (28 February).
Since then, Trump has made a major U-turn after reading an 'important' letter from the Ukrainian president.

"Earlier today, I received an important letter from President Zelensky of Ukraine," Trump said during his Congress speech on Tuesday (4 March). "The letter reads, 'Ukraine is ready to come to the negotiating table as soon as possible to bring lasting peace closer. Nobody wants peace more than the Ukrainians.' [Zelenskyy] said, 'My team and I stand ready to work under President Trump's strong leadership to get a peace that lasts.
"'We do really value how much America has done to help Ukraine maintain its sovereignty and independence.' "

Trump told Congress that 'simultaneously, we've had serious discussions with Russia and have received strong signals that they are ready for peace'.

"It's time to stop this madness. It's time to halt the killing. It's time to end the senseless war. If you want to end wars, you have to talk to both sides," he concluded, just days after Trump shockingly threatened Zelenskyy he was 'gambling with World World III'.
Amid the feud, Musk responded to news that Ukrainian lawmakers had passed a resolution affirming Zelenskyy as president until after Ukraine’s war with Russia ends by tweeting: "Hold an election."

He doubled down on X yesterday (6 March), writing: "Ukraine needs to hold an election.

"Zelensky would lose by a landslide."
Trump has also taken to his own social media platform, Truth Social, to claim Zelenskyy 'better move fast' to bring the war to an end or 'he is not going to have a country left'.
He also called Zelenskyy a 'dictator' who 'refuses to have elections', echoing previous demands from Russian President Vladimir Putin for Ukraine to hold elections before negotiating an end to the war.
Additionally, Trump made a number of false claims about Ukraine and Zelenskyy, one of which including that Ukraine 'should never have started the war' and that Zelenskyy has an approval rating of four percent.

However, a February poll found 57 percent of Ukrainians trusted Zelenskyy according to the Kyiv Independent, who also won Ukraine’s most recent election in 2019 with 73 percent of the vote, and the war commenced after Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022.
According to ABC News, Zelenskyy reportedly said he'd would step down as president if it would help achieve peace with Russia or NATO membership for Ukraine, adding that he had 'no intention of staying in power for a decade'.
