Ivanka Trump has revealed that she will not serve in the White House to protect her children from the 'darkness of that world', after learning the 'price' of engaging with politics.

During his first term in office, Donald Trump's eldest daughter Ivanka served as his Director of the Office of Economic Initiatives and Entrepreneurship.

However, the mum-of-three has opened up about her experiences, and what her role will be this time around.

We are just days away from seeing Trump become the next president of the United States.

His inauguration is set to take place next Monday (20 January), after he won the election in November against Kamala Harris.

Appearing on a recent episode of the Him & Her Show, Ivanka revealed that she would be stepping away from politics in 2025.

Despite rumours that she could make a return to support her father, she explained why she 'hates politics'.

She said: "I love policy and impact. I hate politics. And unfortunately, the two are not separable.

"There is a darkness to that world that I don’t really want to welcome into mine.

“The main reason I am not going back to serve now is I know the cost, and it’s a price that I’m not willing to make my kids bear."

Explaining her feelings regarding her dad's upcoming presidency, Ivanka noted that she wanted to be there for him as a daughter rather than an advisor.

She added: "I think I’m most looking forward to just being able to show up for him as a daughter and be there for him to take his mind off things, to watch a movie with him, or watch a sports game.

"To know that he can be with me and be himself and just relax and for me to be able to provide that for him in a very loving way as his daughter."

Talking about her future work and the importance of family, the 43-year-old said: "Hopefully I’ll live a life that continues to be impactful, regardless of where I do it."

Her revelation comes days after her step-mum Melania Trump, 54, announced where she would be living during her husband's presidency.

Speaking to Fox & Friends, she said: "I will be in the White House.

"And, you know, when I need to be in New York, I will be in New York.

"When I need to be in Palm Beach, I will be in Palm Beach.

"But my first priority is, you know, to be a mom, to be a First Lady, to be a wife. And once we are in on Jan. 20, you serve the country."
