The rumour mill had been swirling for a while

The White House has responded to rumours that Donald Trump has been hospitalised.

Reports started to spread on Saturday that Trump, 79, was under medical care, with whispers claiming the president had been admitted to the Walter Reed Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland at the weekend.

This, of course, isn't the first time that rumours about Trump's health have spread, with people being quick to assume the worst after seeing a series of bruises on his hands and swollen veins during public appearances.

The White House is always quick to squash these assumptions, though, with Trump's full medical exam being published to the public last year.

The White House's latest address on Donald Trump's health

White House communications director Steven Cheung shared a post on X in response to the most recent claims, writing: "There has never been a President who has worked harder for the American people than President Trump.

"On this Easter weekend, he has been working nonstop in the White House and Oval Office. God Bless him."

The White House also responded in a more blunt fashion on social media, using the Rapid Response 47 X account to hit back at the rumours.

'Trump literally never stops working'

The account shared a photo a CBS reporter had posted of the White House with the caption: "A Marine sentry is standing at the door of the West Wing as of 1:50pm, indicating the president is working inside."

Rapid Response 47 replied: “Deranged liberals cook up insane conspiracy theories when POTUS goes 12 hours without speaking to press. (They said nothing when Biden routinely went 12 days without speaking to press)."

They continued: "Fear not! President Trump literally never stops working."

And it seems that is very true indeed, as Trump has been busy posting on Truth Social in recent weeks, including an expletive-laden rant against Iran as the US' war against the country continues.

Eyebrows were raised when he posted: "Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!! Open the f**kin' Strait, you crazy b*******, or you'll be living in Hell - JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah. President DONALD J. TRUMP."

Another post reads: "Remember when I gave Iran ten days to MAKE A DEAL or OPEN UP THE HORMUZ STRAIT. Time is running out — 48 hours before all Hell will reign down on them. Glory be to GOD! President DONALD J. TRUMP."

Later that day, on Saturday afternoon, he wrote: "If you import The Third World, you become The Third World!’ – AND THAT’S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN TO THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA AS LONG AS I AM PRESIDENT. PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP.”

Rumours began after unverified social media posts alleged there were road and airspace closures around and above the medical centre, which is mostly used for presidential treatment.

Nothing was confirmed or officially reported.
