Prince Harry had blunt 8-word response after King Charles banned Meghan Markle from seeing Queen on her deathbed

The Duke of Sussex opened up about the moment in his memoir published last year

Prince Harry had a pretty direct eight-word response for King Charles after his father reportedly prevented Meghan Markle from seeing the Queen on her deathbed.

Queen Elizabeth II passed away in September 2022, surrounded by her family members at Balmoral Castle in Scotland.

Those in attendance included her children, King Charles and Princess Anne. Prince Edward and Prince Andrew arrived shortly after she died, along with the Queen's grandson, Prince William, and the Countess of Wessex, who shared a close relationship with Her Majesty.

Writing in his memoir, Spare, which was published last year, Harry recalled: "He [Charles] said I was welcome at Balmoral, but he didn't want... her."

The 'her' Harry was referencing is his wife, Meghan Markle.

In 2020, the couple stepped down as working royals, following Meghan's mental health struggles as a result of relentless media scrutiny and racist language from a 'senior royal'.

"He started to lay out his reason, which was nonsensical, and disrespectful, and I wasn't having it", Harry went on.

Clearly upset with Charles' response, the Duke of Sussex said he told his father: "Don't ever speak about my wife that way."

Harry continued, addressing the rest of the conversation where Charles reportedly stuttered and apologised while explaining that because William's wife, Kate Middleton, wouldn't be in attendance, neither should Meghan.

"He stammered, apologetic, saying he simply didn't want a lot of people around. No other wives were coming, Kate wasn't coming, he said, therefore Meg shouldn't", Harry wrote.

The father-of-two also recalled his difficulties getting to Balmoral the day the Queen died, which meant he ultimately missed her final moments before passing.

"When the plane started to descend I saw that my phone lit up. It was a message from Meg: 'Call me when you get this.' I looked at the BBC website. My grandmother had died.

"My father was King," he wrote.

Elsewhere in the memoir, the royal spoke openly about losing his virginity to an older woman in a field behind a pub at the age of 17.

While the identity of the woman remains a mystery, Harry recalled how his first-ever lover treated him like a 'young stallion'.

He regarded the experience as a 'humiliating episode with an older woman who liked macho horses and who treated me like a young stallion', the Daily Mail reports.

"I mounted her quickly, after which she spanked my ass and sent me away. One of my many mistakes was letting it happen in a field, just behind a very busy pub. No doubt someone had seen us," Harry wrote.
