Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have confirmed they are also travelling to Balmoral amid concerns about the Queen's health.
Buckingham Palace announced today (7 September) that the Queen, who is 96 years old, is undergoing medical supervision at her Balmoral estate near Aberdeen.
Assuring she is comfortable, the statement explained: "Following further evaluation this morning, the Queen's doctors are concerned for Her Majesty's health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision."
A number of members of the royal family have already confirmed they are making their way to Balmoral to be with Her Majesty in the wake of the news, and a spokesperson for Harry and Meghan has now announced they will also be travelling to Scotland.
The couple were already in Germany and were due to attend the WellChild Awards ceremony in London on Thursday evening (8 September), but a spokesperson said: "The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be travelling to Scotland."
Prince Charles, Camilla, Prince William, Prince Andrew and Princess Anne are among those who have rushed to Balmoral to be with the Queen, and dozens of concerned members of the public have also gathered outside the estate amid the events.
Kate, The Duchess of Cambridge, has remained in Windsor as her and Prince William's children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, who are in the midst of their first full day at their new school.
A number of politicians have sent well-wishes following Buckingham Palace's announcement, including the new Prime Minister Lizz Truss, who recently travelled to Balmoral to meet with the Queen.
"The whole country will be deeply concerned by the news from Buckingham Palace this lunchtime," she wrote on Twitter. "My thoughts - and the thoughts of people across our United Kingdom - are with Her Majesty The Queen and her family at this time."
Former PM David Cameron tweeted: "Deeply concerned by the news this afternoon from Buckingham Palace. I send my heartfelt thoughts and prayers to Her Majesty The Queen and the Royal Family at this worrying time."
Ed Davey, leader of the Liberal Democrats, added in a tweet: "The whole nation’s thoughts and prayers are with Her Majesty The Queen and her family as we all hope and pray for her full recovery."
Prior to the news released by Buckingham Palace today, the Queen had pulled out of a meeting of her Privy Council on Wednesday as doctors advised her to rest.
