Meghan Markle made an incredibly thoughtful gesture to honour her late mother-in-law Princess Diana's memory during her four-day Colombia trip.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex aimed to utilise their time in Colombia as an opportunity to draw attention towards their charity work, much of which seeks to make the internet a safer place for children.
The two visited Colombia following an invitation from the country’s vice-president, Francia Márquez - the first Black woman to hold the position in the country.

Aside from her important work in Colombia, people have been focused on Meghan's fashion choices.
This includes an incredibly thoughtful gesture towards Princess Diana.
Meghan was snapped wearing a pair of butterfly earrings that once belonged to the late Princess, who died in 1997 as a result of a fatal car collision in Paris.

Meghan opted for the gold earrings while making a visit to the Colegio La Giralda school in the Santa Fe neighbourhood of Bogotá.
While there, Meghan exercised her Spanish skills when communicating with a class of nursery-age children, explored the campus and got involved in an art class.
The earring choice becomes even more profound when reminded that prior to becoming a member of the royal family, Diana worked as a nursery teacher's assistant at the Young England School in Pimlico.

Diana had previously been photographed wearing the earrings during a trip to Canada in 1986.
Meghan drew attention to the earrings by wearing her hair pulled back into a bun.
She has been noted to have worn the earrings twice before.
The first sighting was in 2018, shortly after the announcement was made that Meghan and Harry were expecting a child.

Secondly, Meghan wore the jewellery 2019 when launching a line of women's workwear.
A source told Page Six in May: "A gift to [Harry's] wife that once belonged to his mother is incredibly meaningful and that isn’t lost on his wife.”
While in Colombia, Meghan reflected on the powerful women in her life and paid homage to her own mother, too.

She said: "For me I find inspiration in so many of the strong women around me, my mother being one of them. Life is full of surprises and can be quite complex.
"So much of how I approach things is about less of the fight and how do we wash things over with love and kindness and generosity.
"You see something wrong and you go and fix it. As women we are multi-taskers and fixers. We all know how much representation matters."
