Meghan Markle just broke major royal rule after making huge career step

Meghan Markle just broke major royal rule after making huge career step

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry stepped away from their royal duties back in 2020

Even though the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are no longer part of the Royal family duties, they could be breaking one major rule which would have landed Meghan Markle in hot water four years ago.

Prince Harry’s wife has recently gone on to a new venture, and she’s lucky it wasn’t before 2020 that she decided to go for it.

Thankfully, the pair parted ways with their royal duties after being tirelessly hounded for their life choices - what Meghan wore and how she acted during her pregnancy.

Instead of putting up with it, they decided to move to Canada and then America to start fresh.

However, if she was still part of the family, she’d have breached Royal protocol when she launched her new business.

The business, which is a luxury lifestyle brand called American Riviera Orchard was created to sell household goods, gardening tools, pet products, food, beverages and cookware.

But it’s her marketing that would have landed her in hot water.

Why?

She’s using her title to promote it.

On Instagram, the brand’s page states that it’s ‘by Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex’.

Now, this is a huge no-no as the Royals are prohibited from using their titles to advertise or promote brand partnerships or endorsements.

Earthweb privacy expert Trevor Cooke explained to The Mirror: "Members of the royal family must tread carefully on social media, balancing their personal interests with their responsibilities to the monarchy.

"Any misstep could have significant repercussions for their reputation and the institution they represent."

But the Royals aren’t the only ones they should be watching out for, as Martha Stewart isn’t best pleased with her either (allegedly).

The household name and food icon is not happy about people comparing her to Meghan.

She called it ‘irritating and insulting’ to her as people have said that the American Riviera Orchard brand could earn her over six-figures in sales within weeks of it launching.

Her potential has caused people to say that the pair are similar, and that Meghan’s brand could be right up there.

But Martha is not on board with it.

A source disclosed to In Touch that the chef isn't happy with the comparison, and they said: "Martha has seen hundreds of Meghan types come and go — and says they all come in with the same self-inflated hype, only to find out it’s a whole new ball game when it comes down to brass tacks.

"She’s tired of being quizzed by people over how she feels about Meghan’s venture because, honestly, it’s irritating and insulting to her that she’s being compared to a rookie!"

A source also explained Martha has spent ‘decades building her brand’ and Meghan can’t hold a flame to her.

They added: "If Meghan thinks she can come along and replicate that with barely any experience simply because she’s married to a prince, she better think again.

"Martha doesn’t put a whole lot of faith in her succeeding, but if she does prove to be any competition, Martha won’t hold back in trying to take her down."
