Prince William had a brutal reaction to briefly dumping Kate Middleton over the phone while partying in a nightclub, an insider claims in a new book.
If you think royal love is plain sailing, you might want to think again.
It's safe to say that William and Kate's relationship didn't get off to the best start - as the pair even briefly split in 2007.

After dating for five years while attending university at St Andrews, rumours of a proposal were in the air.
But it seems as though William got a severe case of cold feet, after he reportedly brutally dumped Kate in a 30 minute conversation while he partied in a Mayfair club - and his reaction afterwards was even worse.
Rob Jobson is the man writing a new biography of Kate, which details many unknown intricacies of what really happened behind the scenes.

And it seems as though the over-the-phone dumping was very much a drunken decision from the future King.
"I’m free!" he reportedly shouted, after the ending the call, telling Kate their five-year relationship was done.
Rob said: "He then told his friends that they should all ‘drink the menu’, which they more or less ended up doing.”
According to reports at the time, it looked as though William also had his eyes on a blonde socialite, who actually rejected his advances, not wanting to sign up to a life of royal service.

William tried his best to woo Isabella Anstruther-Gough-Calthorpe, but nothing came of the crush.
Rob added: "Few could have predicted that he’d return to Catherine – or that she’d ever agree to take him back..."
Despite being inevitably heartbroken, Kate decided she wouldn't let William know that.

The pair bumped into each other at a Halloween party where Kate attended dressed as a nurse, and I think you can fill in the gaps after this.
Rob wrote: "William had made a beeline for her.
“They then spent the first part of the evening deep in conversation before hitting the dance floor, where they ended up kissing.”
This was the couple's final chance to make a go of it, and William finally proposed to his lady in 2010 in Kenya.

The insider said: "The question wasn’t entirely unexpected, of course, but Catherine’s face lit up with a radiant smile as she said yes.”
It seems that even royal relationships have their ups and downs.
