Queen Camilla - wife of reigning British monarch, King Charles III - has fallen ill, a Buckingham Palace representative has today confirmed.
A newly-released statement explains: "Her Majesty The Queen is currently unwell with a chest infection, for which her doctors have advised a short period of rest.

"With great regret, Her Majesty has therefore had to withdraw from her engagements for this week but she very much hopes to be recovered in time to attend this weekend’s Remembrance events as normal.
"She apologises to all those who may be inconvenienced or disappointed as a result."
Camilla, 77, was scheduled to attend the annual opening of the Field of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey on Thursday, but has since been replaced by the Duchess of Gloucester.
She has also pulled out of a Buckingham Palace reception - hosted by The King - for Olympic and Paralympic athletes, which will take place the same evening.

Instead, PA reports that The Queen will be resting at home.
No further details regarding her health have yet been released.
The Palace's update comes just weeks after Camilla gave an update on the wellbeing of her husband, who revealed earlier this year that he was battling cancer.
Visiting the Royal United Hospitals in Bath back in September to open the new Dyson Cancer Centre there, she spoke to several cancer patients and members of staff, one of whom reportedly asked her about her husband's condition.

According to The Sun, Macmillan Cancer Support worker Suzy Moon asked, 'Is he ok?', to which Camilla reportedly replied, 'Yes, he is doing very well.'
Charles, 75, underwent surgery on an enlarged prostate back in January, with the palace saying at the time that it was a ‘corrective procedure’ and that his condition was benign.
A week following the father-of-two's surgery, Buckingham Palace confirmed that the procedure had bought to light a 'separate issue of concern', revealing that the UK Royal was battling cancer.

"During The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted," a statement released at the time read.
"Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer."
It was also revealed back in January that Charles had been receiving care as an outpatient since early February.
Like Camilla, he too was forced to postpone public duties during this period, with the Palace later issuing a statement that read: "His Majesty’s medical team are very encouraged by the progress made so far and remain positive about the King’s continued recovery."
