Some viewers of the 2024 Paris Olympics were left shocked after one athlete shouted an expletive out of frustration - however, he has since clarified the reason why.
Matthew Hudson-Smith, a 29-year-old runner for Team GB, narrowly missed out on a gold medal in the 400m race today (8 August).
It seemed like the gold was as good as won for Hudson-Smith as he steadily raced around the track and seemed primed for the win.

A clip has since done the rounds on social media which show the athlete appearing to shout "f**k" following the loss.
It seems to have affected some viewers, as Hudson-Smith took to X (formerly Twitter) to clarify the situation.
He wrote: "Let me address this before things get a little out of control. I'm swore post race because that was honestly pure emotion. 2021 I was in a dark place in life watching the Olympics, 2024 I'm Olympic silver medalist 5th fastest time all time.
"Keep fighting people, now onto 4x4."

Following the race, Hudson-Smith told BBC Sport: "It’s crazy. Honestly, sometimes the journey is better than the outcome and it’s been a hell of a journey and I’m just grateful.
"I’m coming home with an Olympic silver, not many people in the world can say that.
"I’ve been the bridesmaid twice now, but my time is coming so I’m just happy. I’m grateful and it’s just the start."
He continued: "I saw my family and I didn’t even know they were here!
"It was a bit of a shock really because I hate them watching me as well! My mum and my dad don’t really watch me because they hate it, just as much as I hate them watching me.
"It’s crazy that they came and it’s been a hell of a journey, man."
