Passengers have described a ‘hellish noise’ after a person was sucked into the jet engine of a plane at Amsterdam airport.
A currently unidentified person has died after being sucked into the engine of a plane at Amsterdam airport.
The incident was first reported at 3.30pm yesterday afternoon, and it’s unknown whether the victim was a member of staff or a passenger.

Horrified passengers and crew members were on board the KLM Cityhopper Embraer E190 when the tragedy took place, which was heading for Billund in Denmark.
A crew member on the flight has now spoken out describing the horrific incident.
Speaking to local outlet De Telegraaf, they said the person fell into the engine just after cabin crew had finished the safety briefing.

They described a 'hellish noise' and smoke rising from the engine, adding that several passengers and cabin crew saw the incident unfold.
A police spokesperson has said it is too early to say whether the incident was an accident or a potential suicide.
In a statement, KLM said: “A fatal incident took place at Schiphol today during which a person ended up in a running aircraft engine. Sadly, this person has died. The flight concerned was KL1341 bound for Billund.
"We are currently taking care of the passengers and employees who witnessed the incident at Schiphol.”

The airport has also released a statement saying: “A horrific incident occurred today where a person became trapped in the engine of an aircraft.
“Our thoughts are with the loved ones and we care for the passengers and colleagues who witnessed this incident.”
Royal Military Police are currently conducting an investigation into the exact cause of the incident.

They put out a statement saying: “An incident occurred this afternoon on the Schiphol platform where a person fell into a running aircraft engine and died.”
Dutch minister for infrastructure Mark Harbers also shared his condolences on X (formerly Twitter), which said: “Terrible news about a fatal accident today at Schiphol.
“My condolences go out to the relatives of the victim and the people who witnessed the accident.”
The Dutch Safety Board has sent three inspectors to Schiphol Airport to deal with the initial investigation of the incident.
