A cabin crew member has revealed the real reason they greet you when welcoming you onto a flight.
Let's be real, the airport experience can either make or break the beginning of a holiday.
If you experience no queues, a brief wander around Duty Free, a table to sit and eat, and swift boarding, then you're probably off to a great start.
But if you get roped into extra security checks, after having queued up for two hours, and then can't find a single seat in the entire airport - by the time you get to boarding, you're not best pleased.

This would lead people to presume to that a smiley greeting by the cabin crew is an attempt to cheer you up after the ordeal, but one air hostess has revealed the real reason why they're so nice.
Why do cabin crew greet passengers when they board the plane?
Over on TikTok, flight attendant Rania (@itsmekikooooo) explained why she says 'hi' to everyone as they board the plane.

While, yes, it's a polite thing to do, what she's actually doing is analysing every passenger for other motives.
Rania said: "Your flight attendant greets you, not only out of politeness but also to check whether you are too drunk or sick to fly."
Not only this, but cabin crew are also looking to scout out which passengers could help them in the unfortunate event of an emergency.
And social media users were quick to share their thoughts in the comment section.

One person commented alluding to already knowing this, saying: "I had pancreatitis when I was in Corfu, I acted normal going on to the plane otherwise I knew they wouldn't let me on."
A second joked: "Me with headphones walking on the plane completely ignoring the flight attendants..."
While a third said: "Ah okay this makes a lot of sense, I always get the same look going on flights."
Someone else asked: "What do you do in a case where a passenger isn't suitable to fly?"

To which another user responded: "Usually they would inform the cabin crew managed.
"They will inform the ground ops who will bring the passenger inside and help them further."
Another flight attendant in the comment section also added: "We look for anyone who hasn’t got any mobility issues, can speak English, looks like they will be able to open a door and ideally travelling alone."
The more you know, eh?
