The woman says she and her family flew home three days early from their £7,000 Jet2 holiday.

A heartbroken mum says she and her family were forced to flee their £7,000 Jet2 holiday early due to cockroaches 'infesting the hotel'.

Hayley Perry planned on staying for 10 days at Beatriz Playa and Spa Hotel in Lanzarote with her mum, husband, two children and family friends.

It was an important holiday for the group as it was the first trip that mum, Karen Linstead, had been on without husband, Paul Linstead, who passed away at the age of 73.

Sadly, their trip was cut short when the family discovered the hotel was 'infested' with 'thousands' of cockroaches and ants.

Watch below:

Terrifying footage shows the six-legged creatures surround the floor of a bar area, with cockroaches lurking in and around their bedrooms.

Hayley, from Barnsley, South Yorkshire, said: "It was my mum's first holiday abroad without my dad.

"We went to check out the entertainment area on the fourth night.

"While we were sitting there my son came up to me and said there were cockroaches.

"I said it's fine as you see the odd one on holiday, you expect to see them and he said 'no, there's quite a few'.

"On our way back to the room we saw a group of four cockroaches.

"Again, I didn't think anything of this as you see these on holiday and I didn't think it was too bad.

"On the fifth day my son came running up to me again and said a girl was chasing him with a cockroach.

"I asked how she managed to catch it and he said there were thousands of them and anyone could catch one.

"I went to go to the toilet near the entertainment area and they were all over the toilet.

"I just screamed and ran out. They were all running around the toilet door as well.

"A man had to lift his little boy up out of the toilet block because he wouldn't dare walk on the floor.

"There was one lady who sat with her feet up on the chair [in the entertainment area] because she didn't dare put her feet on the ground."

Hayley explained: "On the sixth day we ate out all day and when we came back to our hotel late at night, we found the dead cockroach outside our [Hayley's] room with the dead ants all over it.

"There were literally thousands of ants.

"We went to reception to tell them and 40 minutes later a security guard came up with a sweeping brush and took away the dead cockroach but left all the ants.

"He got a certain number of ants but he left most of them and then just walked off."

The group say they were then forced to pay £25 per person to fly home, only a week into their stay.

A spokesperson from Jet2 said: "We are proud of the award-winning holidays that we provide to our customers, so we are very sorry to hear about this.

"We will investigate properly and respond to Ms Perry directly once we have concluded this investigation."

Tyla has contacted Jet2 and Beatriz Playa and Spa Hotel for comment.
